I'm disappointed. I wanted this to be my midlife crisis car too!

I would have rathered a replica of the old Surpra with up to date headlights, dash, and safety features.

The whole BMW thing ruins it for me. Don't get me wrong I like BMW's, but wouldn't want to own one after the warranty is up.

My understanding it is Toyota designed.....even if not...is BMW a downgrade?

My understanding is yes, Toyota designed and BMW built. Now, it is also my understanding it was collaborative so give and take on the designing...

I find it Intresting how all of these cars making comebacks keep getting different looks that aren’t appealing to the masses. Toyota did this and now Chevy brought back the blazer that doesn’t even look the same. Kind of afraid what ford is going to do with the bronco now

No, both are fantastic engines and the ZF8 is probably the best torque converter automatic on the market. BMW's implementation being particularly good.

Toyota never tried to hide the collaboration, but in my opinion, which doesnt mean squat, Toyota enthusiasts aren't enthused with the whole BMW part.

Not really talking about speed comparison between an auto and manual as I am sure new tech has bridged the gap. It's the driving experience - my 2.0 TDI Manual is a lot more fun to drive than any of our auto transmission vehicles, most in part to the turbo and the gearbox.

A 2.0 TDI probably is much more fun as a manual.

When I drove the current M4, both Manual and DCT, I felt the car was way too fast to have to deal with shifting manually. When I drove a 911 Turbo S, which is DCT only, I couldn't imagine that level of drama while also shifting manually.

My other car is a V8 M3, manual, and I feel it's right at, or just past the performance threshold where a manual is still fun versus something that gets in the car's way.

One of the first 2020 Supras debuts today/tonight, Saturday. As it rolls across the auction block for charity at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale.

O.K. This Supra at Barrett-Jackson is actually thee #1 Supra produced in the world. The very first.

It just hammed down for $2,100,000. That is NOT a typo!!!!

yea that was a little crazy but it's the only #1 2020 Supra ever to be built and the only one ever in that color exterior and interior. plus it was a charity car so there's that.

I was also thinking Mazda when I saw the first pictures. I drive a Miata and like it a lot, but not for 50 grand and not with a hard top.

Longer list than the wife needs to know about....
    I'm a little disappointed.
Not with the BMW collaboration, BMW makes good stuff and this could've been awesome.

There is no Manual option... a must for a 'drivers car' in my opinion.
The motor should have been a 'slightly' de-tuned M3 inline turbo 6 (starts at 425hp). Not a completely neutered version, 335 would've been good 20 years ago...
There doesn't appear to be a targa top, who doesn't want* their Paul Walker moment and eject their targa roof traveling 100 down a highway next to a semi....

At that price point and weight you are comparable to a base Corvette which is putting down 455 hp and weighs about the same, and also has a 50/50 weight distribution.
