Randomly stopped by a Dodge dealership and was impressed with all the buttons. I couldn't help myself, I had to have it. There was 15 minutes there where I was a little broken up about saying goodby to the Tundra, but I got over it and moved on.

I present to you, the king of all 1/2 ton trucks and my new baby, The Ram 1500!

...just kidding. This is a rental, mine's in the shop. GOTCHA!

I oddly got really mad and put off when I read, "the king of all 1/2 ton trucks and my new baby, The Ram 1500!"

Glad I did scroll down, or I would have been logging off angry for the night and wondering why!

All is now well in my world.

What do you think? Last few years the Ram is a serious competitor.

Not a bad ride, and the new shifter dial is pretty cool. Interior is pretty stylish. But severely sluggish and under-powered. Tundra is still #1 in my books.

Edit: And way too small. Has the same leg room front and back as my Tacoma

Hahaha thought the same thing when I saw your post!

Bahahahahaha @ the Ram being a "serious" competitor. Maybe if all you watch is the fast lane truck YouTube channel; those guys shoot ropes up eachother's backs over the Ram... I think the fat guy with that sweet fanny duster on his top lip lets Chrysler engineers cum inside of him. Anyways, the TRD Pro tundra went against the Ram Rebel (almost 60k purpose built off road truck) and the Ram couldn't even lick the Tundras jock... Anyone driving a truck that comes stock with coil overs in the rear also takes it in the rear...

Well that explains the gutless remark.

Drive a 5.7, 8spd auto with 3.90 gears. Your next thread might not be a joke.

Hate to burst the cum bubble in your mouth, but if you haven't noticed, Toyota has been taking a rather large dick in the ass for plenty of years now.

Go drive the competition. I do it every year, do you?

I tow Vail Pass and have for some time. I have to say, the FLT guys are goofy at best, but their assessment on trucks is rather spot on. I'm sorry if the Tundra comes up last on most tests. In fact, they actually like the Tundra and have given it pretty good reviews.

My wife has a RAM 2500, and I have a Tundra. I have to say, I prefer the Ram interior. If we could put that in my Tundra, I would really have the king of all ½ tons.

Haven't driven one of the new Rams with an 8 speed, bet it's a significant improvement over the old ones. Out of all the Dodges I've driven, I've only been truly impressed by the 5.9 Cummins my buddy has (but his is chipped and has aftermarket exhaust).

Cum bubble in my mouth has been burst. I have driven the Rams, I actually test drove a rebel not too long ago; it was ok, but not for 55k. Also, I don't feel a power difference between the tundra and the ram, even with the 8 speed. The Tundras drivetrain is a lot smoother IMO, and is a tried and true design. Ram is telling their techs to immediately replace 8 speed transmissions that come in with issues, instead of diagnosing and fixing them... Ram was a lot smaller interior wise, and isn't worth shit immediately after you sign paperwork to buy it. Also, TFL guys are a bunch of dbags. Have to basically take anything they say with a grain of salt.

We drove a stocker with the Cummins and it was a dog. You'd think with the advertised torque it would be a neck snapper. Unfortunately they dial in a bunch of torque management which withholds the torque for normal street driving. The good news is, this makes them extremely receptive to tuning, as long as you don't mind a little Black smoke.

By all means, I am not a Ram fanboy and would not recommend them to anyone. I think my prior post on this topic prove that.

To say they are not a competitor is just foolishness. Hell, the US truck marketers do not even compare the Tundra in any of their test. They don't even have a market share they want to grab or care about.

I get it guys, we all love our trucks and want to be loyal fanboys, but there are other options outside the walls of a Tundra. Some better, some horribly worse.

My dad had a ram and I have owned a Sierra, most recently a 15 double cab. The Tundra easily blows both of those trucks out of the water.

No it was the 5.3, you can't get the 6.2 in a comparably priced GMC to the tundra. We're talking a 60k truck vs a 40k truck at that point. SC the tundra, you still come out cheaper and have twice the truck...

My friends dad has a Silverado with the 6.2L and I was greatly impressed with it. The Ram 6.2L/six speed auto.....bleh. I think the RAM 5.7L hemi out performs the RAM 6.2L as far as a couple of tow tests I've read.

I had a Ram a couple of years ago when my truck was in the body shop (rear ended)
The only thing I liked about it was the traction control isn't anywhere near as sensitive as our tundras are.

Our traction controls suck. They work, but suck. Gas pedal/throttle response way too touchy. I'm used to it now, but at first it was WTF for a few days.

Here we go again. Listening to all of the "professional" reviews. They always fail to talk about the reliability, dependability, cost to own, resale value of these new trucks. They go on all about the fancy new fangled trucks with all their wiz-bang shiny buttons, 50 speed trannys....aluminum this or diesel that. What they dont talk about is all the nightmares of recalls, warranty work, broke down on side of road, costly repairs, high insurance cost for aluminum body panels, no resale value...etc.etc.etc.

Ill take my Tundra any day for a general purpose 1/2 ton. Heck Ill even stop to give the big three guys a ride to the next exit!
