A friend of mine works at TEMA and agrees with that date. He also said Toyota hired the lead RAM designer from Dodge to lead th redesign.

That stupid electric thing on rams is optional I believe.

Of course Toyota doesn’t believe in options.....

really all Toyota needs to do is make the tires fit the wells and offer a cushier interior including a decent stereo and softer seats. maybe give us step bumpers on the rear.

    do NOT:
-slant the windshield even more and reduce headroom
    -add any electric motors
    -use cylinder deactivation
    -use auto shutoff
-use aluminum anywhere on the body

in short, design a truck for truck people and tell the EPA to go screw a goat. fill the rest of your lineup with soulless crap using anemic motors, horrible pleather (hint: MB tex from 50 years ago is better than what Toyota is currently using in their cars) and windshields raked so far back you need to ride like a gangster just to fit in the car if that pleases the EPA. But keep that cost saving, mileage saving shit away from the Tundra and Sequoia.

I wouldn't be surprised one of the trims being hybrid like the 2019 RAV4's, except the current tech has the battery only lasting about 8y if you're buying for ownership and considering resale, replacement battery units are still costly.

Gotta compete or go between new tech like Rivian/Atlis, Ford just announced they're building a EV F-series to keep up.

Interesting hire. Up until the 2019 model, I've always thought the Ram had some pretty manly, aggressive styling.

The farther out the better. I planned on keeping my '18 as long as possible, but if the next gen is far enough out maybe I'd consider getting a new one before the next gen comes out.

so i was guessing somewhat correctly months ago, 2020 fall release (2021 model year) was when the next tundra gen would come out. which puts it exactly where i was hoping. that would give me about 3-4 years on this current 2018 CM Platinum. hopefully by then they will have :

    1. all led interior lights
    2. heated steering wheel
    3. better stereo (this jbl is complete garbage compared to the 2016 tacoma jbl and even my 2014 4runner jbl)
    4. more storage options in the bed (like the tacoma bed) and storage option in the cab on the CM like the DCab has
    5. hopefully by then they will have android auto
    6. another rear end gear ratio instead of just the 4.30 rear end (for those that dont pull 70-80% of the time), i might do 20-30% towing so i dont need a 4.30 rear end

    just my thoughts

Sorry but from what I have heard from an engineer at the SA plant is that the aluminum body is most likely coming due to the complaints about MPGs. That again is just word of mouth from a friend

The only thing we can bet on is the date. Anything else would be pure speculation. Pretty sure that if anyone said anything without authorization, they would not have a job.

This literally is my plan. I'm splitting my remaining driving mileage between my Tundra and a beater. So far I'm at a driving rate of 8k miles per year on the Tundra, which means I should (in theory) get about 30 years out of the Tundra. God only knows if this will actually work, but I'm going to give it a whirl.
