Hey guys I'm a long time tacomaworld member, I have a 1st gen Tacoma that I'm looking to trade In for a 09 Tundra. I was wondering if there are any known issues on the tundra that I sould look out for before making a purchase.

Welcome from CO. I wouldn't worry too much about cam tower leaks on an 09. Most cam tower leaks have occurred on later year Tundra's. Apparently a process issue when the cam tower sealant was being applied. My 07 has zip for leaks. I came from a 09 Taco. No regrets. Go to your nearest Toyota dealer and give them your VIN# to check for any recorded service history and if any recalls were taken care of.

Welcome from UT. I second the VIN lookup for the service records and possible recalls that need to be resolved. I have had 2 Tacoma's, a 99, and 2000, was looking at a third when I saw my Tundra on the lot. The only things I miss from my last Tacoma is the manual transmission sometimes, and the supercharger.

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
    Welcome!

The Air Injection Pumps. Very expensive to fix. Looking at a $3,000.00 fix

I had them replaced twice on my 2008 Tundra.

I have an 07 DC SR5 and the cam tower on the driver side has a small leak. Not very bad but my OCD kicks in and all I do is check on it. Drives me crazy. I think all the 5.7’s on all years can leak.

I actually found a 07 DC 5.7 with 127,000 on it, that I'm looking at now.

I really love mine but make sure you look at the came towers
area. mine only had 68,500 miles on it otherwise it was like a new truck. good luck with your purchase.
