Hey Guys - I’m new to the forum and just picked up a 2017 Tundra Crew Max. I’m looking to add a Tonneau and wanted recommendations for a retractable tonneau that will keep things safe and dry. Ideally, it will be lockable, and a side note, I don’t have side rails. Any feedback would be appreciated!

Welcome to the forum. I have never had a tonneau cover. My camper shell does the job with more storage space. I'm sure others will be happy to help

 Hiya and welcome from SoCalif!!!

I'm saving up for a Diamond Back. It's not tonneau but it's very secure and large load capacity...

I have a Retrax One MX, and love it. No leaks, it locks, and it installed with no rails.

Thanks guys - I have a line on a Retrax One Pro MX and it's good news that they're both nice and they don't leak!

I’ve got a 2016 CM with the Retrax MX One, and the right side of it has wiggle room, that allows water in. I had it professionally installed, took it back to the shop, even called retrax myself and they weren’t any help. Anyone here have any ideas how I can fix this?

Yeah the back right is where the water comes in...but it’s got some wiggle along the entire right side of the cover all the way back up to the base...

I got mine used, but the previous owner installed a second latch on the right to match the stock one on the left. It helps mine to not move. It stays snug against the tailgate.

If the entire rail is wiggling, then your clamps may need to be adjusted.

I saw that 2nd latch on yours and love it...I’ve tried looking to see how I could go about doing that, but haven’t had any luck. I think that would solve my problem. I’ve adjusted the rails so many times and still have the issue unfortunately.

I’d say around an 11x11x (the width of the bed) at the top of the front of the bed.

If you go to Retrax’s website you can download the installation instructions,in there they discuss adjusting the rails for fit. I hope this helps. I have had a Roll-N-Lock and 2 Retrax covers, I will go with another Retrax when my truck comes in

Do you know where the leak is? is it under the track or around the edge of the cover?
Under the track, have the installer address it w/ a new gasket or some silicone. If It's the track & it's been adjusted by the professionals, there could be a mnftr defect, some missing/torn bit of gasket or such. The installer should contact Retrax on your behalf. Exchange it for a new unit.

Retract will offer you a prorated price if it is a mfg defect so don’t delay contacting them. I have had one replaced under those terms and they were very helpful with the process

I had a roll-up unit & it was pretty water tight & the release was accessed from below - so w/ a locking tailgate it could be secure.
But I just don't like the roll up. So I got a tri fold. I really like the ease of a tri fold, rarely need the top 1/3 of the bed open, but it comes off easy if I do. The trifold units I have on both trucks & they really need a lot of attention if you want them water tight. Again, if your tailgate locks they are secure as they release from below. Another bonus of the trifold, I've easily found both of mine used in excellent condition for under $200. That's $1,000 free to put into something else for the truck!

I just bought the Gator Recoil for 850, no tax, free shipping. I ended up going with this one because I liked the matte black look and the aluminum panels. I also liked how it doesn't have a separate lock, it locks with the tailgate up. Waiting anxiously for it to arrive, I'll let you know how it is! I
