So I recently had all the ignition coils replaced cause it would misfire and run a little rough. After replacing them I was driving in the rain and it started right back up. Now it runs terrible. Have to throw into low and start from that gear from a stop and still takes quite a while to get up to speed. I have no clue what else it could be! Help needed ASAP. Is my daily driver to school and work.

I was being sarcastic. How did the plugs look by the way? Mike and I were discussing coils here recently. He will chime in on this. Coils can last a long time, but they can fail. You have new coils so that puts a new twist on to what might be wrong.

Engine has seen a lot of water from the trail riding in the woods and quite a bit of mud but cold air intake is cleaned regularly. Thanks though

yep bank account is running low from it..
    Someone call me..

Sounds like a cat is plugging up on you..

Ground wire on engine block loose..

Battery connections clean and good along with battery in good condition..

Use Dow 4 ( light bulb grease) where connection and coil meet in electrical.

Check timing belt make sure it has slipped.

    Check compression on cylinders..

Check maf. Make sure it's clean

    Air filter clean

    PVC is working.

    Fuel filter changed?

If all checks out good let me know.. and I can dig deeper.

Battery is in good condition along with terminals. I have checked the compression on cylinders, one was slighty off. Check engine light is on cause I believe 2 of the 02 sensors are bad. Would dielectrical grease work too? Pops told me to use it cause he used to be a mechanic but he's clueless right now to. Will check MAF tomorrow morning.

If you o2 sensors are bad replacememt is needed.then clear the computer. Use grease on the new connection to the o2 when it's replaced..

Check your cats too make sure they are not plugged up..

How much off is one cylinder???????

I'm not sure. Hopefully taking it to a family mechanic soon and ill have him check it again. What's easiest way to check if cats are not plugged up??

Thanks. Hopefully I can get it all fixed. Just recently got it back on the road too. Dang lower ball joint broke and had to get a new one! Will let you know what the problem is soon. Hopefully it doesn't put a dent in my wallet. :(

Properly diagnosing the problem uses more time but can save you money in the long run by not throwing parts at it.

I'm not sure what you have going on, (I have suspicions, but I'll sit tight while others with more Tundra experience chime in.) but I would like to say that you really need to take care of the things that you KNOW are wrong first.

Sure, the problem you have might not have anything to do with the o2 sensors, but you'd be surprised at how much they could be hindering you in diagnosis. Also, if you have that much sluggishness, the o2 sensors could be adding to that, making a bad ride even worse... not to mention the damage you could do to the engine while driving it with AFRs out of whack combined with a fuel and/or spark issue.

I am BRAND NEW to Toyotas, or even Japanese designs at all. Heck, I don't know foreign cars at all. However, I have decades of experience with cars in general, and have built a few from nearly ground up, as well as done early carb'd car, to late model EFI engine conversions. What I am trying to get at is that I don't know the procedures for Toyota, but IF we were talking Ford or GM, the first thing I'd do at this point is check fuel pressure, and make sure that is within spec. Wow... that was a roundabout way to say check the fuel pressure! But I don't know the methods and specs for a Toyota, so you get what I just put you thru! lol

To avoid throwing money at it, check the codes, take care of those. Throw money at what you KNOW is wrong, then meticulously root out the new problem.
