Started about 2 weeks ago, started to hear a slight suspension knock underneath passenger side. Thought maybe at first it was the hitch step knocking around. As time went on it got gradually worse and decided to bring it to the dealer as a possible shock going bad. They determined not a shock but "possibly" a bad front body bushing...??? REALLY?
Now told they have to pull apart front bumper and all assemblies to determine IF it is in fact the body bushing.... 8 month old truck w 15k on it. No suspension mods....

I got an 18 no problems yet. Fingers crossed but I'll keep an eye on this thread see what comes up. Whatever it may be it's under warranty.

Just got truck back from the dealer. Was a Build issue with the passenger front upper body mount not seated right from factory. Once seated after bouncing around the bolt was loose causing the suspension noise/shudder/knocking. So, they replaced both sides of the upper body mounts since the front clip was apart. Covered under warranty but I wonder if I was the lucky one to get the Friday afternoon payday build?!
*****update as I drove the truck today.... the squeaking of a radiator support that they lubed and tightened... now is annoyingly worse!!!! Onlyway around the noise is cranking the radio till it goes away. Sounds like a hamster on a rusty wheel!. Not what I expected from toyota and an 8 month old truck!!!! So not happy!!!!

Another update..... Truck is back at the dealership.... tech saying the body mounts are back to making noise again!!!! Yup... the ones they just replaced! Now they are willing to open a case w toyota on my behalf to try to rectify the issue.. But, unknown how long this will take..
    Any suggestions???

3rd gen tacomas had a couple years of bad front body mount bushings, maybe 2016-17 I think. Most of them ended up replacing the oem bushings with polys to get rid of the noise.

Once I sprayed my condenser bushings myself, not a peep since.....60k miles later still quiet.

Sorry to hear you are having bad luck in general with the truck :(

Even further update. As I had not heard from the dealer in 2 days, I decided to call and see the status of the repairs. Low and behold, NEW news on the issue! Seems that the front right shock(or strut as the service rep calls it) upper perch is making noises not the body mounts.!!! So, they are waiting on parts (shock and coil over assembly) from Toyota. Apparently the don't have in stock.
Do I call Toyota Corp customer service in regards, as a just in case????
And a possible eta for repair Tues or Weds this week...

You would think that is the first place a tech would have inspected. Bet he was familiar with the body mount problem on the tacos and immediately focused in on it being the problem. Replaced the mount and the noise remained, so on to the suspension.

I even mentioned to the service manager about the possibility of the shock( not my first truck w a bad shock...know what they sound like).... It at least Toyota said to replace the whole assembly...

No knocking noises for me, but I do notice a shit ton of squeaking noises and from the inside of the cab it sounds like a little waterfall or like a fish tank with it's filtration system. Come to find out it's the cab mount bushings that is highlighted in red, being displaced on both sides. Usually always happens after I go wheeling or flex pose. ***Picture belongs to Boss4x4*** it's just to show my findings of my issues. I tried to readjust the cab mount bushing to get it set back in place and it took care of the problem until I go out wheeling again. That's when it would get displaced again and causing the major squeaks.

Try a poly bushing from Energy Suspension. Thats what the taco guys ended up doing with the same issue. Or remove the nut and stack a couple fender washers and then try to pull the whole assembly a little tighter than stock to keep the bushing in place.

I have a 3/2 kit ready to go. Gotta cure Toyota's issues b4 I have to hear the infamous.." well sir, you altered the truck and we are not responsible for that...." nonsense...
As well as I'd like to change up the tires to 33" or better...

It's from wulf suspensions. Small company but have a coworker that uses their kit on his tundra and loves it.
You can check them out at. Wulfsuspensions.com
Price points seem pretty comparable to others out there too.

Looks like a lot of their stuff uses blocks and spacers which is ok if you never plan to really take it offroad but my buddy broke the lower stem on his stock bilsteins up front just from hard braking and he has a leveling kit with spacers in the front. So just be warned... sometimes it's better to buy once cry once. Spend the money up front for a quality lift rather than going the cheap route and having headaches later. Also an adjustable coilover type assembly will ride and perform a whole lot better. For example bilstein 6112s can be had for $550-$600...so for not that much more you can avoid a ton of headaches. Just something to consider if it's not too late... you're likely going to be paying the same for labor on install and alignment regardless. And you'll be paying double that labor and alignment cost if you have to remove and replace it down the road.

Thx for the info. Not looking to do much off-road stuff... but just in case if i ever "have" to deviate in that direction. 99% of my driving is long term highway driving. So for now just looking for "looks" than functionality. But, with current issues, not gonna be doing anything...

So was able to pick up the tundra tonight. Surprisingly enough they replaced the complete coil over assembly and no noise!! They also were douche enough to state that the LED bar behind the lower grille was hitting the radiator support causing the squeaking and banging... REALLY!!?? Not even close!!! And why then would they have replaced the coil over shock? I HATE DEALERSHIPS !!!! :argue:Always looking to pass the buck.. ohhh and did I mention the light install was done after the noises started...
    But, so far so good...:fingerscrossed:

Dealer replaced both fronts.... all that and noises still occurred... turned out to be a bad shock tower bushing.... body mount issues were more of a taco issue than our rigs..
