Trying to see what's out there. Companies like Rigid are starting to make lightbars with black housings on the inside rather than clear. Thinking this would be a lot less noticeable behind the TRD Pro grille and match the rest of my truck better.

Anyone seen any blacked out lightbars not made by Rigid? (looking for a cheaper option)

Another user brought up Kodiak in another thread, which seems like a reliable option with a 5 year warranty, but their site doesn't give you any ordering options or show what brackets/wiring comes with it.

How does the light reflect with black housings?

Hey, how exactly is a rainbow made? How exactly does the sun set? How exactly does a posi-trac rear end on a Plymouth work?

    It just does.

But seriously, Idk, most I have seen still have a small clear reflector around the light area, but the rest of the inner housing is what most companies are labeling "black ops reflectors". Definitely interested in how they perform.

    Here's the Kodiak one.

I think you are the first person ever that wants to have a stealthy light bar. Hell where i'm from, its like a badge of honor. I've seen light bars worth more than the truck mounted to the roof.

Haha I mean it's still pretty noticeable behind the Pro grille, I just think the black would blend better behind the black grille and hopefully not stick out quite as much. Plus it would match the TRD Pro headlights perfectly IMO. Plan on installing some of those at the same time as I do the lightbar.

Everyone around here has a huge lightbar mounted on the roof as well, and I don't really care for the flashy look so I want it to be as stealthy as possible and still be effective when I'm riding dirt roads to my hunting camp at night etc.

same here I don't really like the light bar mounted on the roof looks awkward to me behind the grill looks pretty stealthy to me almost like it came from Toyota like that

@LOTSOFTOYS do you have any info on the cube lights? How bright are they? Seems like a good price and might be a good option for a fog light up grade!

I live it. It's crazy bright. With the hid headlights I can see for ever. I'll take a pic next time I drive at night. Aiming is key tho. I have it aimed down for snow. Really helps in storms

I dig it man, great price point as well

Only thing I didn't like was the lame hardware that came with it. Had to use a slightly longer side bolt for bracket. I took pictures tho and sent them to them so they know what happened. Maybe they changed something;) just be gentle when installing it. Don't hulk the little bolts lol

You secure it to the metal impact bumper behind the plastic(main) bumper? That's where I was thinking of securing it too in my notes when I was going to do it..

Edit you are using the 40inch one right?

This is correct. I used some self tapping screws after I marked everything up.

Yes I drilled holes and what not. Test fit a bunch of times. Makin sure it's straight, throw the bumper on, take it back off, put it back on.... it's a process:)

I am digging the 36" Morimoto bar...12,800 lumens is pretty good for a single row.

Those brackets that come with it look super short though, trying to think of something I could use to raise the bar up to my desired height if I go with that one. Did you run into a similar problem on yours or were the brackets the right height for the location on yours?

I had to look it up myself, apparently the "flood" is a much wider/taller beam to help you see along the sides of the road much better than a "spread". This is what I gathered from KC website anyway.

Btw, @PlatinumPro hows the install coming? Looking forward to pics of the Kodiak bar!
