I backed over a brand new carbon race bike once. Thankfully Cannondale gave me a 10% discount so it only cost me $4k plus shipping for a new frame.....and $1250 for a new Enve wheel.....and $450 for new carbon cranks......:frusty:

I once was driving and choking on an apple, spat it all over my windshield, couldn’t see a thing so turned on the wipers which obviously had no effect and hit an old lady (ok everything is true except the lady).

As long as nobody hurt, you’re good, we all make mistakes.

the dumbass neighbor I referred to in my last post also did another stupid thing a few years later. his GF had a dumb as a box of rocks black lab. I mean this dog was just clueless. anyway that neighbor had been out bush hogging on his tractor. he took a break and went back out to the tractor. bush hog was raised up and when he cranked the tractor up he turned on the bush hog.

the dumb lab was right behind the bush hog and got chewed up with the blades.

I think you see that's not right. Maybe "on-line" friends, but it counts. Jumping in like friends do. Or dogs. A dog would sit by you, and let you pay its head til you felt better....
Empathy is good; but it's true that 'misery likes company' Hearing that others experienced similar/ worse/ relatable disasters is always better!

Plus I enjoy hearing I'm not the Only One. It often feels like no one else could screw up as badly.

Damn. Rough story. Your error was costly but your neighbor's story... that sucked. I hope he healed up.

Man, these stories are great. And I love that, so far, every dumb thing we've done. Someone else has done something dumber! :fingerscrossed:

Just this summer I drank out of the hose and also trained my kids that the best tasting water is from the hose.

Here’s one about I guess not learning the first time. I cannot stand cordless shop light or for that fact shop lights in general, they all seem to suck ass. Well back to the cordless lamp, I had these round 12” and 24” led light sticks that always rolled in the wrong direction when you needed it most. I got so pissed I went to Home Depot to fix my pain. I found a dewalt led that would use the same battery’s I already have for other stuff, I thought I was in heaven. I got back home and back to work on the truck, light was awesome. Got done on truck, pulled all the tools out from under it and prepped for test drive. I install new shackles, I jumped in truck and off I go, down the street round the corner. Truck rides awesome so I’m heading back home and I come across this yellow light spread out on the road in about 4 different pieces. I stop to look and it dawns on me, this is mine. Swearing starts throwing it happens, I so pissed at myself that I did this I’m usually pretty good about making sure I get everything. I get home wife asks how it going I bite her head off start yelling at her for no reason and now I’m in the dog house. When the light hit the road it broke in 3 pieces and the fourth was my awesome lithium dewalt battery that had a crack two thirds of the way around it. This light cost $80 and battery is another $120 so you can see the problem but I shouldn’t have taken it out on her.

20 minutes later I’m back at Home Depot get new light and new battery, I’m calmed down now and life is moving forward again but still in the dog house.
Trying to test the new shackles my dog and I went up in the hills to make them work for about an hour, we get back and I figure I should torque everything again. I get it torqued take it down the road and on the way back guess what I find??? A damn dewalt led light out on the road, I sat in my truck looking at that and I wanted to cry. Number 1 for being the dumb ass that literally did the same thing twice in the same day and the second and biggest reason is I took it out on my awesome wife when it was this jackass that didn’t double check not once but twice because he is 50 acting like a teenage and being in too much of a hurry and not thinking. Also there is this Karma thing, I guess I deserved it because I tried taking it out on someone else. It was a damn expensive lesson that I learned when I was 12 but I chose to forget about it at 38 years later.
I think we all have done stupid shit that has cost money, friends and other things this is how we live and learn we are all here with bud, I hope you can fix your new fender and maybe in the process you learn how to lay up fiberglass at the same time.

I drove through my garage door after doing a set of brakes because I didn't pump the pedal. To this day, it is beyond me why I didn't open the garage door first. To top it off, my then girlfriend had just given me the "you are drinking too much beer lately" speech.

I’ve been reading on how to fiberglass. Here’s what I’m up against. 3068F375-CC5E-4781-830E-B47F16621481.jpgBA954720-9919-4318-95B8-9B9F6E3171CA.jpg

I mixed up some fiberglass resin and poured it in the crack, then squeezed it together as best I could, put fiberglass cloth on the back...and wrapped tape around the whole thing to hold it together. I also filled all of the gouges with resin. I know there’s going to be a lot of sanding, but we will see how it goes.
