Just wanted to vent a bit, but I’ll start on a positive note.

This is Jeep related, But we are all vehicle minded...so bear with my moronic rant.
I’m autistic, so I tend to dwell on things.

Shortly after I finally discovered the snorkel and fenders I wanted for my Wrangler, the company that made them went out of business. I checked every distributor I could find and no one had any.
After a year, I finally decided to settle for something else, and last month looked on FB for used snorkels. Amazingly, the first one to pop up was exactly the one I was looking for (and far less than the retail $600)..and still in the box. Turns out it wouldn’t fit, lol....so I made it fit (with much modification).
Once that was done, it was time to find a different set of fenders I liked. After far more hours than a normal person should spend online looking at fenders, I shockingly came across (on eBay) the original set I wanted(way below $800)...and once again the original buyer had never installed them. I snatched them up and they arrived yesterday.

Today I started customizing them and prepping them for paint and realized I needed to run to Lowe’s for supplies. It was a pretty day, so I decided to take my Harley...

And as I backed the Jeep out so I could pull out the bike, I ran over one of the fenders!!!!
Apparently I forgot that I had set one on the tire after holding it up to see what it would look like on my Jeep.

I know no one cares, but I have no friends so I’m letting it out here. :notsure:
And maybe it will make you feel better about your day. ;)

EDIT: FEEL FREE TO SHARE YOUR CLUMSY TALES OF WOE.

You’re not the only one who has done something like that! We could all share dumb-shit stories like that. Hang in there and get on eBay again.

I'm sorry, Friend! This does suck. :(

Maybe we can make you feel better by posting specific examples of stupid mistakes we've made. I'll start:

I spent a month finding a wrought iron pedestrian gate with stationary panels on each side to exactly fit the gap between my house and my neighbors' fence. I measured the hell out of it (more then "measure once"). Then I rented a small jackhammer to dig a narrow post hole far enough down into clay. Measured several more times. Lots of neighbors came by over the 2 days I worked on prep and installation. We all talked about the exact fit. We measured.

I still managed to F' it up by setting the hinge side of the gate 6" wrong... so none of it fit. Then had to modify one of the side panels. Ultimately, there's a gap between the gate and my neighbors' fence that my son or a full size dog can get through. Worst. Result. Ever.

    So... there's that. :anonymous:

Oh man that sucks. We have all had moments like that. I have backed into things and dented my tacona bumper...twice. snapped a mirror off squeezing my a tree and hit gas instead of brake. Sorry buddy but you'll get it squared away.

As I don’t have funding for repair, and finding a replacement is seemingly impossible, I supposed I will need to learn how to fiberglass.
For those asking for photos, I will have to take one in the daylight tomorrow.

I will say that the the fiberglass is cracked apart and crushed a little bit, along with many gouges. I wasn’t SO stupid that I kept running it over once I started. It’s just the 15” or so of the end of it that rotated and got sucked under the rear wheel. Since these aren’t plastic, they have no flex or give.

No. The bike is kept on a ramped platform in front of the Jeep.
If that had happened, you wouldn’t be reading it here. You’d be seeing a news report about a huge fire and explosion involving a Jeep, harley, and RV.

at our last house we lived on 5 acres. I built a 24' x 20' detached garage so I'd have a place to park since the wife unit gets the garage attached to the house. I decided that I wanted a tractor so I bought a new JD 2320 with a front end loader. on the detached garage on the front it had an 8' door. on the side I put a second door 12' tall and I was going to add a concrete ramp for the tractor. hadn't had the chance to pour the concrete ramp at that point.

so in order to park the tractor in the garage, I had to lower the tractor fold down bar in the rear. for some real dumb reason I had put the bar up to clean it while in the garage. the next time I went to use it I failed to check the fold down bar to make sure it was down. so my dumbass proceeded to exit the garage thru the front garage door which was 8' tall. problem with that was the bar was 9' 6" tall, so I ended up hitting the top of the garage door plus the framing around the door. it ripped the door right off the tracks and slightly bent the fold down bar. totally trashed the entire garage door.

so of course my neighbor came over and laughed at me and told me I was now President of the Dumbass Mens Club. He just laughed and laughed.

the next day that same neighbor was going to burn a wood pile he had out back. that moron had tossed some gatorade bottles full of gas trying to get the wood pile to stay burning. well he got smart and walked up to the wood pile and lit a bunch of newspaper he had wadded up and in a mere second the entire wood pile exploded with him standing next to it. I did not see it but I was in the house and heard it!

they had to rush his ass to the hospital and put him in the burn unit. the guy almost lost his face and arms from the explosion. I told him yes I was President of the Dumbass Mens Club for about 22 hours. He had now put me out of office and declared himself king!

Man that sucks! We do all have those days. I had one where we took the quads to the dunes and in an incredibly rare never before event my BIL, SIL, MIL and my wife's Aunt from Puerto Rico decided to meet us there/ some came with us. Never in my life have I gotten them to the dunes. So i take the trailer off the truck put the dune whip on the truck and start taking them around the beach and the dunes. I was being extra careful yet still having a bit of fun. After I shuttled everyone around almost all of them left. Just my MIL and my wife's Aunt were left. We are packing up and getting ready to leave so I hook the trailer back up put the pin in the trailer tongue and start riding my quad onto the trailer. I have never loaded quads with the tailgate down ever before but we were loading differently this time... I think my wife was helping . Anyway i get the quad onto the trailer when the tongue comes flying off the hitch and slams into the tailgate 3 or 4 times. Huge scratches everywhere and three huge dents. I loose it. Like about to flip this trailer over and set it on fire loose it(I had a torch in my on call bag for work). Not my best moment. Anyway ended up getting the tailgate fixed at a friends body shop for around 500.

Now to tie this into the Jeep situation I had a friend that was doing a body off build on a CJ no idea on the year or anything I'm not a jeep guy. Anyway we went into town to buy all the parts to weld up his exhaust. He decided he was going to drive it around his property before putting it into the shop. I start on the 20 minute drive to his house. By the time i get there the Fire department is there and there are flames everywhere and trees on fire. Come to find out he was climbing this little hill maybe as high as the length of the jeep. It dies on the hill and the fuel cap was leaking. When he started it the spark from the exhaust set the entire thing on fire. It was a total loss. The day before that we had just put the body and tub back on. Exhaust was the last piece of his puzzle.

Sorry to hear about your fender and hope its salvageable!

I like everyone sharing their stories of woe!
This should be a place for all of our stories.

Not nearly as bad.....but I was using some Meguiar's Quick Wax on my last truck and set the bottle on the rear bumper in front of the license plate. I went to lower the tailgate down and it hit the bottle, not realizing why it wouldn't lower all the way I raise the tailgate and lower it 3-4 times before I realize the bottle was there. Paintless dent repair for $75 and looked 9 out of 10 after.
