You are on the right track. I only went to edit what I was going to respond cause I didn’t want to seem like I was being an ass or something. Trying to put on some weight could be a good idea just don’t get discouraged if it comes back off during boot camp. Also while your there you will weigh in once a week. If you are getting close to your minimum you will become a “double rat”(twice the food).
I was on the opposite end of the spectrum when I joined. Had to loose 35 pounds to even be able to sign up. Then I was 232. I shipped about 6 months later at around 215-220. 12 weeks later at graduation I was 180.

Anybody on here a Street Parking member? I had a friend send me a couple of their workouts about 9 months ago to try on conditioning days. They did what they were supposed to and whooped my ass.
A few months ago I had my coach start writing up conditioning workouts to do once or twice a week so that I’m not just rowing three days a week. Two weeks ago I remembered those workouts so I went to their site and signed up.
After my deadlift competition next Saturday I’m going to switch up my program a bit and continue powerlifting 3 or 4 days a week and do the Street Parking(CrossFit) workouts all the remaining days.

Well today was my charity deadlift only powerlifting meet. Opened with 525. Went smooth and fast so jumped to 575 for a 10 pound PR. That went smooth. My coach and I were talking about third attempt being 600.... decided to try and put on a good show and go crazy for a good cause. Attempted 615. Got it to my knees and that was it.
I might be going up tomorrow to hit an even 600 so I can reset my training max. I guess I decided today I will be doing my first full powerlifting meet in April at Kabuki. So excited to see how this next training block goes!

Haha I can understand that! Thanks for the welcome!

Currently a 5th year senior at NC State in Raleigh, NC.

School gym is solid but gets busy and paying for parking is a PITA. To kick off the new semester I joined LifeTime. It’s solid and has ample space. Not to mention a bit of eye candy here and there due to my loss of it from no longer going to the school gym ;)

Currently at 6’5 hovering around 200. Would love to be a healthy 210-215 but scared of gaining fat and losing all da abssss :militarypress:

Have been attending spinning a few days a week at our local LA Fitness. I like that it is low impact, I do not hurt all over iike I do from cross fit or running. As a former BMXr and casual Mountain biker I really enjoy it. In a 50 min session I sweat my ass off, get my heart rate up and burn some serious calories.
Pre New Years res. to lose about 10-15 lbs or 2inches in the waist - which ever comes first LOL. I plan to start working in some weights soon.

Welcome! I lived in NC for about three years. Would love some pulled pork and hush puppies!
I built our home gym because I was tired of going to our little Snap Fitness. Turns out I did it just in time. Our gym closed a few weeks ago. PF came to town and they couldn’t compete.

I loved Lifetime when I lived in Memphis. Definitely a solid gym.....and you’re right about dat eye candy! (Don’t tell doc! Aka my wife) LOL

Wow! Figured at 6’5” you’d easily be 240!
    I’m 6’3” and 210 - 215 at 12%. Working my way up to 225-230 / 10-12%

I wouldn’t be scared of losing deez abs! Gotta gain a little bit of fat to get some muscle mass! I cut down to 10% and start eating to gain (clean bulk) until I get to 15% and cut back down, wash rinse and repeat.
If done right, you’d only need to cut down twice a year. Trick is to time the bulk (winter/holiday bulk anyone?? LOL)

    Completely understand.

You ever been to an equinox? Shits unbelievable. Wish they had one here haha. Back home (LA) it’s the spot.

    Even the doc agrees ;)

I would love to clean bulk I just don’t know a whole lot about it. I guess 6’5 230 at 10% doesn’t sounds too bad.

I don’t have an FB any more. Been over two years off that site.
I use my phone to record bar paths for the big lifts and to help find form issues. Now that I am also doing Street Parking(online CrossFit programming) I use it for recording sets and a timer. I’m not dropping 200-300 dollars on a gym timer... plus I don’t have the room.

In a commercial gym I’m with you 100% nothing pissed me off more. In my house it’s busy if the dog, a kid or two and I are there at the same time lol. So I have a lot more freedom.

    Thank you!
I’m done with adding things for now. I have plans to build a dedicated deadlift platform that’s going to almost be as big as an Oly platform. I also want to add a belt squat machine and maybe a reverse hyper. But that’s like a year or more out. Deadlift platform as soon as my motorcycle sells though for sure.

My coach has me working a lot of deficit DL now. Hopefully go for that 600 again within the next month or so.

Not to be a dick, but 6’5” at 215 is nothing. I’m 5’7” maybeee 185/190 (been slowly gaining) with visible abs. Highest I’ve been is 210 with abs. Much cloudier, but visible.

My buddy is 5’10”(?) 252 with clear cut abs. Sometimes you have to sacrifice a little fat for gains. The more muscle you have, the easier the fat is to burn off.

So what’s the best way to clean bulk? Just a shit ton of healthier carbs?

    Do you do less cardio?

I would start by tracking the best you can so you know what macro(s) you should increase and re-evaluate

Also, for a type 1 diabetic, @typeone , that can actually work to your benefit in a huge way. Buddy of mine was a type 1 also. 5’5” and an easy 205-210 shredded. Not sure how he structured his diet but essentially maximized his insulin/sugar levels at strategic times to supplement his anabolic windows. Insulin is imperative for both fat storage and increasing muscle mass. Done right, you’ll pack on muscle much easier!

No, never had the pleasure of going to an equinox. I’m a big fan of the old school dungeon gyms - a byproduct of being a gym rat in my HS/college days at the only gym in my hometown complete with mass monsters wearing tube socks and rocking feathered mullets (in the late 90’s/ early 00’s no less) pushing nothing but free weights and old nautilus machines.....Heaven. Since I moved back to Louisiana, been frequenting a local gym that’s been open for 50 years. Has every kind of equipment you could ask for....not to mention they’re the only gym around with 150 lb db’s And 6 squat racks plus more! No brainer over LA Fit and Gold’s - too corporate for me LOL

And hey, doc’s my wife...what’re you implying?? LOL

Ahhh now that I can get behind!
When someone mentions the word “phone” while talking working out.....I automatically go to the “brole selfie” (swole bro selfie) complete with the Jersey shore tan/hair and cologne bubble that’ll suffocate you within a 5 yard radius! LOL
    You’re living the dream, sir!
Can’t wait to get my own house and build up my home gym (doc has already approved a separate garage/shed just for my gym! Whoo hoo!) I’ve been looking at yours for insirpation!! LOL

    Law,

Love those gyms too. Just feel I’m not quite able to throw around heavy weight easy enough to fit in there ;)

And by doc agrees I meant my girlfriend even appreciates all the eye candy on there (male or female haha)
