Are these just mounted with two-way tape? Or is there other hardware?

I think it looks good, mainly because it's different. I might change my opinion if more people had them. The add in the link indicated that it uses 3M tape for the mount.

Hey, Trooper2. To answer your question, since I recently installed this myself. It comes with 3M adhesive on the underside lining, just like the vent visors or hoodflectors. It also comes with a black polyurethane tube you have to caulk on the underside to help with adhesion and avoid moisture from getting in. Hope that helps.

It's custom made. I had used one off Sequoia as the base and then fitted into Tundra

I don't like it but sure would help when rolling down the rear window and keeping the water out of the CAB. I did that one morning and wasn't paying attention and got my backseats soaked.

I'm talking about the tailgate in HIS picture.
Look at the upper half of the tailgate.

I had to install mine there due to several scratches when loading the bed cover one of the boxes slipped and scratched the tailgate, this plastic is cheap insurance and looks good too. With warmer weather I will lower it a bit because it covers the tow ball in the camera view, but thats my miscalculations.

Nice looking truck. Was interested in this cab spoiler for the purpose of keeping water from dripping into the cabin during raining or water on the roof. Does this help with that very well?

    Thanks!

I had the same thought when I saw it and didn't see many reviews or answers so I decided to go for it. Worst case scenario, since I liked the way it looked with it on, it would at least look good to me.

I would not rely on it for water prevention as I didn't realize it but there are notches on both sides for the water to pass through where the weatherstripping is on the roof. I will say it does cut down on the water getting into the cabin for a short period and would seem somewhat helpful if you only have the window cracked on the crewmax version. Other than that, it's just for looks. I wouldn't even go so far as to say it helps with aerodynamics.

    Thanks for the insight.

I've read besides double sided tape, it also includes a tube of calk to seal the whole spoiler down. Did you calk it down for your install? Not sure if you have observed if the water your still getting into the cabin coming in from the notches or the water is just curling inwards from the spoiler edge, instead of falling downwards at the edge.

Looking the design, if was completely sealed, the standing water would just channel out to the side since the spoiler is angled a little and at higher speeds fly off the edge of the spoiler.

The thing keeping me to try it out is because it looks to be a permanent install using the seal. I might have to go with the AVS rear window visor in-channel modded.

Haha true, I think for aerodynamic functionality, it would need to be much longer. Speaking of, I am surprised no one has come up with a bed cover goes up to the roof height then angles down to the tail ala Cybertruck.

Yes, I did add the polyurethane caulk everywhere there was 3M tape. I was thoroughly impressed with the stuff that I used it for the LED strips for the courtesy lights under the bed frame and haven't had an issue since install. When I do see the water pool on the window, it seems it's coming from the notched area and at the edges like you are stating.

Nothing's permanent if you try hard enough, lol. The AVS visor would be a "better" solution. I just didn't like the look and didn't match my side visors but I did see a user on here who modded theirs and looks pretty good. I also don't like to use in-channels as they tend to stress the motors a little bit more.

I honestly think companies like Toyota (read Japan) don't like to rock the boat too much as that would bring too many variables to their reliability if they changed their design. But it makes sense for Tesla to do it since they are known to break convention and "mostly" succeed. I do like Toyota's concepts sometimes like the FT-4X.

Thanks, good to know. I think I'll try out the AVS and stick it on the outside and see how it holds.

The FT-4X looks good. With the Bronco available soon, I hope Toyota can bring back the FJ.

BTW, nice lights setup on your signature. looks like modified factory LEDs?

Yeah, let me know how it works out for you. Maybe putting it on the outside sounds like a good idea since you wouldn't have to worry about it coming off due to the air flow dynamics, I would think.

I'd love to see an updated FJ. I would love a 2014 Trail Teams Edition but can't justify ponying up the $40+ grand they are asking for it.

Thanks! They're aftermarket headlights and fogs by Morimoto and the hood bulge ones are custom LED pods.

I've built it using parts from Sequoa and custom made brackets and supports.
