I have searched through many threads and maybe I missed it or just don't have enough technological aptitude. I am looking to upgrade my non bbl amp with a plug and play amp to help hear the speakers. I am not one who needs bass just want to give the stock system a little jolt.

Adding an amp with stock everything else isn't really plug and play. May as well upgrade other stuff while you're in there.

I emailed James and his suggestion was to replace the entire system. That is not what I was looking to do. I will check OEM+ thanks

It might not be what you want to hear, but its the truth. There's nothing wrong with doing the upgrade in stages, but you will keep finding weak links.

The paper cones cant handle too much power, so if you do just upgrade the amp, dont crank it, but the signal coming from the HU is so dirty, you might want to try to clean it up before you amplify it. You might throw in a Fix86 or LC7i.

Look at taco tunes website. They have a budget system that I know you'll like and yes its plug and play w no cutting of any wires. I have their best system sq1. You wont go wrong using them

Swapping the stock amp on a non JBL is an easy and affordable way to get a pretty decent system. Just need to run a new power and ground for the amp and either repin a couple of aftermarket harnesses or I believe they are now available ready to go fairly cheap from a couple of companies.

Even better, use a 5 channel amp and add a sub. I run a Alpine MRV-V500 with a Alpine 10" in a box I made. The stock door speakers will surprise you with a little power to them, however I did eventually upgrade mine.

Thanks I have looked at that and am considering this route.

not sure where a sub would go in a double cab

I believe you have more options than I did in my CrewMax. You should be able to buy/make a box for either behind or under the back seat.

The amps will go under the passenger front seat. The subs behind the rear seat.
