While telescoping wheel the engine will shut off and loses all power to truck, telescope it back out and everything returns to normal and runs fine. Traced it to a loose wire bundle that slides in and out of white box on left hand side of steering column just below signal lights. Anybody encounter this problem before?

Do you have a remote start system installed? If so they likely did something when they were in there. Also the telescoping wheel can be turned off in Techstream.

I'm having that same issue now in a 2016 Crewmax. How did you fix it?

I am having the same issues with my 2015 1794. No remote start modifications done. Can’t seem to find the answer anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure I had the same problem as yours, but I did fix mine.

I installed the NSV light bar which required me to add a pigtail/jumper connection (from NSV) within the steering column. Therefore, I suspected I screwed something up in there (beneath the two plastic covers surrounding the column).

Sorry, no pics, but under the cover and to the left rear (closest side to driver's door), there is a bundle of wires which moves in and out of a white plastic housing when you extend and retract your steering wheel. You'll need to remove the lower portion of the dash to see it. This is where I found the problem!

I had to remove the white housing to find it. Kind of a pain in the ass to remove it AND you'll need to be careful with this bundle of wires. They are tiny and delicate.

Once the housing was removed and with the proper lighting and body contortions, I gently moved this bundle around while the truck was running. You'll have to unloop the bundle. It would cut off (just like when I telescoped the steering wheel).

After painstakingly surveying each of the wires, I found a black wire which was just about severed. I had similar gauge craps and I used two posi-taps to reconnect the wire. No more issues. I gently encased the loom and posi-tap repair with tesa tape, rewound the bundle into the white housing and reinstalled the white housing (again, this is a PITA), steering column and dash. She's been fine since!

As I dug into this issue I determined this was an area I did not impact when I installed the NSV. Considering others without this or other mods have had the same issue, it may have just been a problem during the initial build. The corrupted wire was deep withing the bundle.

If you go this route, have patience, take your time and make note of how everything fits together or better yet, take progression pics for reassembly during disassembly.

I hope you figure it out! Good luck.
