I have a 6" lift with 35s on my truck I don't pull a camper all the time but when I do not a problem. At least with the 5.7 your truck can handle it eather way you go .

Feels like I'm trotting this picture out a lot recently.
    20170718_144248~2.jpg
158k miles on the odometer, original gears, trailer brakes, upgraded rotors and pads on the truck, additional trans cooler and rear airbags, no supercharger , leveling kit and 35x12.50's @ max towing capacity (+ some) from Seattle to Boston in June 2017.

Crossed the Cascades, Rockies and Berkshires with no overheating for the engine or transmission.

I slowed down instead of flogging it on steep grades, but otherwise the tundra handled it like a champ.

I'm planning on 4.88s and an Auburn LSD too, but I'll have to save up for the parts.

Does 4.88 or 5.29 gears improve or worsen crawl ratio/off-roading? I’m sure I’m sticking with 35’s and I’ve read some people with 35’s and 4.88’s still didnt like it, it’s always a tough choice such differing outcomes, sigh.

It will improve for sure. 488’s will make it feel almost stock and 5.29 will make it feel even better. The only reason I can think that someone wouldn’t like the 488 is because they were expecting much more, or their tires are huge. You might be surprised and actually gain some MPG’s back.

@15whtrd I’ve read some say 4.88’s for 35’s and 5.29’s for 37’s, would you agree? What is better?

That’s what I’ve read too. But 5.29’s sounds fun on 35’s!

It depends on what you like the look of. I think bigger looks better. I went 34's and wish I did 35's and will end up doing that sooner rather than later.

How much do you want to trim? Also stock wheels won’t work with a true 35x12.5 without wheel spacers.

    Too many, but not enough....
Necro thread to the max lol.

I'm game tho. I say 33 all day unless your rock crawling. With 33s you get a speedometer that's right on the money, a slight lift, very common tire size, good looks and you don't need to mod at all, and it's plenty capable for 90% of offroad.

35s look cooler and get you an extra inch of lift but the cons are way more. More money, speedo will be off, harder to find if you are in a bind, harder to fit, need dialed in alignment and suspension, gas mileage hit, will need new wheels or spacers at a minimum or new UCA, not to mention extra wear on drivetrain and loss of power.
