Ok so my tundra is mostly a pavement princess but sometimes I get the itch to go off-road. Which wheel size is better for that situation? I have 20's but thinking of going 18's, tires are cheaper and more sidewall is better for wheel protection. What do you guys think? PFA

I'm rollin twenties on stock size rubber and it did great off road. Its a heavy ash wheel though and I had to eat wheaties to rotate my tires lol. 20's look really good on these trucks

Assuming similar tires, 18" will give you a quieter, more supple ride. 20" have a slight edge in handling but are a bit noisier and harsher.

    Off roading I'd say 18". For me ... I'm 95% pavement 4% snow, 1% dirt, I'm going up to 20" when I wear my OEM's out.

Here are my choices, I'm probably going 20, but these 22's look pretty good,.I'm not a big fan of the dub look but I do like this set up. I don't plan on lifting my truck anyways.

First pic are 22×9.5 on (?) second are 20×9 on 295/55, both stock suspension.

like many i came from a tacoma that rolled on 16's. when i got my tundra it came stock with 20's and i have to say the difference is negligible. unless you're bombing out to moab every weekend to offroad your truck it isn't worth losing sleep over.

I wouldn't go higher than 20's, but that's just me.

Had 22's with 33's on my old Tundra and the ride wasn't great at all.

It's all about what looks best to you though!

I'm a 17/18" fan. Running 18"/34.5" tires More rubber, better sidewall protection, larger selection of tires. If offroading a lot...Old rule of thumb>>Ideally the tire diameter should be twice the diameter of your rim or close to it. Especially if your are running deflated on sand, rocky terrain, etc. (I'm old school. Old school usually works out fine.)

i just bought my wheels yesterday and was having this same debate should I go 20s or 18s I decided on 18s just because I like having the bigger tires they look more aggressive imo but you cant go wrong either way it was a tough decision but 18s seem have a bit of an advantage over 20s

Many wars have been fought over this debate. You really can't go wrong either way.

I think I struck gold when I bought my Tundra used. It is a Texas edition so it has 20" wheels and I didn't think I'd love them as much as I do, they are alittle stiffer than the 16's or 17's and 18's I'm used to having on previous trucks.

The greatest part is that they already have a few dings in them so I'm not as worried about scratching them up (however I've never rubbed a curb...yet).

Hmmm, I have OEM limited 20 wheels and stock tires if you're interested. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go with 18's.

Thanks, yea the price difference is making me want to go 18's. I agree with the more sidewall old school way.

Yea the 20's look good but so do 18's with an aggressive tire, the most important thing is the price for tires are cheaper for 18s. I think I'm set on that size but waiting patiently for my tires on the 20's to go out

Good choice. I like the off-roadish look (smaller wheels and larger side wall). I have 34.5 inch rubber on 18 inch wheels.
