    I am currently driving a 2016 Tacoma, my first foray into the world of pick-up trucks. It is a fine vehicle, but leaves me wanting something bigger, especially when towing my bikes on a trailer. So I am here to inform myself on what the Tundra has to offer should I decide to upsize. I already appreciate the mature, thoughtful comment on a wide range of topics covered here.

    Welcome from Texas!

    A lot of us here have upgraded from Taco's. Myself included. You won't regret going to the Tundra.

    What questions do you have? You may be familiar with the terminology but here's the few that I see get the most questions:

    SR5 = Center Console
    CM = CrewMax
    DC = Double Cab
    Texas Edition = 20" wheels and running boards

    Can you have both? I really like my Tacoma....and Tundra.

    I can't offer any comparative perspective, but I can tell you that with the 5.7, this thing is a beast. Should have no problem towing your toys.

    The CM interior is amazing, the 5.7 towing is a beast, the truck is sexy and hey you deserve it :)

    06 taco sr5 Trd tow package 4.3L 4Dr 5.5ft bed....now driving a 15 tundy 5.7L DC sr5 tow package. At trade in my Taco had about 160k miles, purchased my new toy with 73. Now over a year later and 16k miles i am completely satisfied with my setup. I do however wish i got towing mirrors, I havnt towed anything yet but I like the look better over the regular. I am still on the fence about my interior setup. I have a "bench seat" which still has the two front buckets but has a "bitch" seat up front which folds down with massive arm rest, storage in arm rest/back rest area also under seat storage and of course since no center console it has a column shifter....I kind of wish I got the console and floor shifter....but hey. Also at the time money was a little tight so I was conservative, I wish I opted for the TRD package, better wheels, suspension, decals and such. But overall I'm am completely happy and grateful I made and was able to make the switch.

    Like many here I went from an 05 DCSB Taco to a 14 DCLB Tundra thinking it could only get better. Well..... kinda sorta. Obviously 9 years of electronics upgrade is pretty good stuff, and not having to use aftermarket Bluetooth makes a world of difference. The rear view camera is okay, but I learned to drive using mirrors. The interior is a lot nicer, but I almost feel like I rattle in there with all the room (I'm 6'0 and220#).
    Acceleration is slightly better with the Tundra, but at a cost of 5 mpg. Since I don't pay for my own gas (my company does) it isn't a deal breaker, but oh boy- you'd think Toyota could do better.
    I haven't towed anything yet. I ride a Victory- we don't do trailers.

    I came from a 2005 Tacoma. In all honesty, the Tacoma did everything I ever needed it to. Towed my bassboat, towed 7000 lbs of rock, hauled what I needed it to. Enough room inside for my wife and two dogs. I've only had my Tundra for a little over two weeks, but it is just a lot more truck. More space, haven't towed with it yet, more power, more, more, more. To me it's a more mature truck if that makes sense. My Tacoma was a great truck, but it always seemed a little jittery on the highway. The Tundra is much smoother to me just seems more solid.
    It really depends on what you are using the truck for. The Tacoma I'm sure was better off-road, more maneuverable and such, it was a little easier to park, but I had the double cab long bed so it really isn't much different. Tundra will be much better towing those heavy loads. The Tacoma did it, but you knew it was there. With the prices being very similar, the Tundra just seems like much more truck for the money. But, if the Tacoma fits your needs or wants better, i wouldn't hesitate to buy one.

    I said the truck was more mature, not the people driving them. :)

    Some Mods :) See build thread for details
    5.7L Crewmax is where it's at.

    Pros:
    1. Bigger
    2. More bed space
    3. More hauling capacity
    4. More towing capacity
    5. Bigger cab = more room
    6. Powerful
    7. Sexy
    Cons:
    1. Heavier
    2. Wider turning radius but not by much
    3. Too wide for most off-road trails
