so I’ve had the king OEM shocks on my truck for a couple of months now and noticed that before the install of the new shocks and leaf springs my trucks suspension was quiet. Now this bitch squeaks all the time as if it’s an old truck. I’ve torqued everything to spec and everything is brand new. Is this common?

No. Are you sure it’s coming from the coilovers/shocks?

There are two spherical bearings in the coilovers that are the only potential spot that can squeak. Spherical bearings (basically a small uniball) can wear out over time and squeak, but not after a month. The bearings are located at the upper and lower mount point. You can try to hose them off with hot water and simple green to see if that makes a difference.

Do not use any form of wet lube on the bearings though. It will just attract dirt and tear the liner.

Any other changes besides the coilovers? Aftermarket UCA?

 I missed the part about leaf springs.

What leaf pack did you get?

Thank you sir. I will try that and post results. And I believe it’s the shocks as I hear it in front and back when the truck articulates on my shit road I live on. Kinda frustrating since I paid over 7 grand to make my truck sound old. Other than that, it performs perfectly. Everything looks good too. It makes this noise even with all the skids off. I had a squeaking engine skid issue first. Bought the rci engine skid to go with their transmission skid I have to solve that issue. Now I just need to give away the stock engine skid or it goes to the dumps and fix the squeaks.

My money is on the leaf spring bushings or the pads between the springs. It happens with new leaf packs. Moly lube on the springs themselves typically fixes the issue till the leaf pack is worked in.

Grab a buddy and one person outside the vehicle to find the source!

That’s a good one to know. Didn’t think of that at all and will give that a try as well. Thanks again for the advice. I appreciate it. I will do one and drive then try the other and see which is the fix.

Forgot to ask if I should use spray moly or the tube grease moly?

Yes sir. The Alcans squeak if not lubed.

You can get that needle fitting a most auto parts stores.

I saw this too. That’s why I asked. Wanted to go the easy route if possible. I’ll order both types for the hell of it. Add it to all the other chemicals, greases and truck shit over taking my garage. Never thought I needed so much shit to keep my vehicle maintained properly. Never worked on my vehicles in the past besides installing sound systems in them. The tundra and this forum has taught me a lot about how to work on my truck.

When we start modifications....more maintenance is needed. However, on the flip side, you get a really well performing vehicle.

Definitely a trade off for sure. Hope this resolves the issue.

Me too. After driving it again and listening better, it sounds like the alcans. Everything ordered so it’s a waiting game now.

I’d like to weigh in. I recently had a full leaf pack from Icon. The RXT leaf pack. About a month later they started to squeak. I just sprayed the the whole thing down with wd40 and got under the truck and leg pressed the bed up and down to help the lube get in between the leafs. Been fine for about 3 months. I live next to the ocean so that could have been a factor into it sqeaking.

Hell ya. Thank you Jason. You were spot on with the dry molyqnd leaf springs. Worked like a charm. Now my baby is squeak free. Can’t thank you enough. Shit was driving me crazy.
