Nothing wrong with blocks in the rear for a street queen .. you still have the same payload and ride quality, only downside is axle wrap which should be non existent on road

Maybe if you floor it everywhere, Tundra leafs are stout. Don't get me wrong, I don't recommend blocks to anyone, but they are cheap, give rake with minimal downsides especially on pavement

I wheeled the piss out of rear lift blocks for 2 years, only downside was the ride sucked .. and even when I ditched the block and used an AAL there was more axle wrap than with the blocks. Firsthand knowledge, not hearsay.

So which one is it? You contradict yourself. Does the ride suck or is it like factory ride?

The reason you had more axle wrap after two years of wheeling the piss out of it is most likely the damage is already done from the blocks. An add-a-leaf is not going to help damaged springs, u-joints failing since your pinion angle is going straight up.

Toyota springs are not known for strength...LOL.

Look at this video. This is a Jeep with axle shims to correct pinion angle. Look at the spring before the axle when it flexes. The spring is worn and has other areas to look at as well. Oh, notice the pavement...

Here is another great video. Look at all the nice thin leafs stacked up high to get a lift. With the nice flexy springs, big tires and V8 power, look at that pinion go up and he is going to break u-joints and drop shafts.

Here is a nice video of 4" blocks on a diesel. I love diesels since it is so easy to see the problem and how to fix it.....traction bars.

Axle wrap is not something you are getting away from on a spring over axle leaf spring unless you are adding a traction bar setup or go to a linked suspension. Axle wrap is minimal on a factory truck and is in the limits of the u-joint so they don't self destruct all the time.

I get it, most people do not want to invest the money in lifting a truck right. It takes a lot, especially when you start going over 4" regardless of make. Geometry gets a little more tricky to get right.

The ride sucked period, blocks on the back, spacers up front. Damage was done? Where did I say I used blocks and an AAL on the same truck? I like how you have non-Toyota videos backing up your claim. Also the second video, the guy was power braking ....

Have you run blocks in the back, or are you listening to everyone on the internet? What do you suggest the OP do? Link his truck? That's comical. New leaf pack? But the second vid you posted he doesn't have blocks and he still has axle wrap.

I wheeled with blocks on an 2006 taco, aal on a 2011 taco, new leaf pack on a 2012 taco. Obviously a new leaf pack is your best bet but they aren't cracked up to what they should be either. Squeak after 20 miles, leafs get out of alignment, bushings are shit unless you spend the money for delrin bushings right off the bat and all for them to get seized up after a year and have to cut them out cause there are no zerks to grease them with and depending on what pack you get you have to have weight in the bed for a comfortable ride. You can get a shop to make you some steel or poly lift blocks for $50? and billet ones for $100, put them on and good to go. Yeah linking the rear end would be the best thing period, but it's also expensive as hell if you want it done right, and to get the right height you want and what you normally carry in the bed (I usually have 150 lbs of tools / equipment) is trial and error. Blocks work for 90% of people who want a lift.

I looked and couldn't find anything saying rear lift blocks are illegal. I did see several states saying front lift blocks are, and rear having a height restriction.

If your state you live in has no marks about blocks then who cares about other states. It all comes down to your state you live in. This site is NOT UPDATED constantly.. laws change.. always best to ask DMV/DOT to confirm...

Btw: blocks are not DOT APPROVED.. if the cop wants to be ass, ticket for improper equipment..

I don't need a toyota leaf spring to show axle wrap. Really? Don't be retarded. You didn't say if you used lift blocks and AAL on the same vehicle. A smart person with limited information can only guess. Last week I bumped my head and no longer have the ability to read minds, so you will have to mention that in the future ok Chief. Hoping that this gift comes back next week after a few beers.

The 2nd video he is going over a parking block, but anyway you look at it, does that not show axle wrap and the effects? Does it not? It also shows what big leaf packs do. I posted it for your education.

No I do not run rear blocks unless they came from the factory that way. I have been off-roading long enough to understand what happens to leaf springs and why nobody runs them....that are doing anything more than the average off-roading trails.

I gave him options in PMs. Would I link a Tundra? No, unless I was doing hard core desert racing and wanted huge amounts of travel. I would do CB +3 shackles and then look to do leaf pack upgrades.

Blocks are not the all evil suspension mod, you just have to add a few things to make them work...which most do not. One has to do the same thing with lift spring packs too (as the second video I posted clearly showed...and you missed).

I run blocks ,. Yes mostly mall queen, even tho I don't go to malls ever. 3/2 ready lift. No problems in 20,000 miles. Quick, easy, cheap. I hate that everyone says the suck. They are perfect for what I need. I have seen your perfect set ups fail. All those king shocks and so forth. I have seen more failures posted about them than blocks. Shit my rear driver's side shock failed even before the blocks. As for a axle wrap, I have it on my single cab, that has no lift or blocks and it is far worse than my DC with the blocks . Once again I do not off road much and when I do it is an trails that is low speed! If I wanted to beat the shit out of a truck I would by a beater and tow it with the tundra. Don't get me wrong I use my trucks but to have fun off roading I need a dedicated ride

I don't have any larger bump stops or straps for front orrear which will help prevent failure will spacer lifts. Most failures with spacer lifts is due to not installing larger bump stops or limiting straps new Jersey only cares about emissions for cars that don't care about anything else

I have honestly never seen a king/fox/ads shock fail on a Tundra with pretty hard use. I have seen springs break....

I will be rebuilding a 14" King 2.0 RR shock this weekend. After 6 long years of beating the shit out of it without limit straps it has taken its toll on it.

Hope there is no shock body internal damage, but I will remain optimistic until we get it apart. I think the retaining clip popped out due to not having limit straps. We'll see.

It is up to the user on what to use. Just because it is marketed and sold doesn't make it a great product. Cheap usually is just that and for the same reason stuff fails over time.

So you have to fix it. Must be broken then. I don't have 6 years yet, but I do have 3 and no problems. Visit other forums and look at all the problems they have with after market suspensions. I am just saying, stop telling people that it is wrong or it is crap. I see it in almost every forum. It works for the right situations, which happens to be alot of them. Most people get a truck and think they are off roading when in reality I already brought my 1980 chevette up that trail when I was 17. Yes I said chevette, rear wheel drive car went more places than any of my friends trucks went. Most people are going for a look, not just performance. Once again I do not argue that there are better more expensive ways to get a lift. My argument is that it isn't as bad as you say it is. When my shocks fail or need to be replaced then I will up grade. For the next 60,000 they will stay stock with the 3/2 lift
