IAM upgrading my suspension on my 2007 Limited. I have +2 coacbuilders on the way, and IAM planning on getting Deaver K37s, IAM looking at the Bilstein 5160s. Will these work with the lift I will be getting with the shackles and springs?

    Welcome to the party!!

5160s are good for lift up to an 1.5 inches. I dont know how much lift, if any the springs provide, but with the +2s it doesnt leave much room. It might be close to fully extending the shock.

    Thanks
That's what Iam worried about is having a shock that won't be overworked with the lift. Deaver lists the k37 as one inch lift and then coach builder +2 will be 1.25". I have air bags and I will be getting the Daystar cradles. The Bilsteins are the top of my budget (around 200$ per shock). I was thinking the 6112 up front. I currently have a coach builder shim on each side with pro runner 180s collar set for lift.

Its hard to say but honestly i think youll be ok, in the long run with +/- .25 difference. Especially if you are towing alot, which i think is the case being you are putting airbags. Meaning i dont think you are going to be doing anything causing your shock to be fully extended.

I have spoke with Dave before, I know he is swamped with orders right now. Thought I would post to see if anyone is running a similar set up. I don't tow but I do haul in occasion, that's when I air up the bags. Dirt, hay, gravel, etc.

My understanding is that our trucks have crappy downtravel, and as such even a 5100 is probably ok. So a 5160 should be ok.

If you're asking whether the 5160s will be long enough for the added rear height, that's a good question. I don't know the answer, as I'm running them on stock height in the rear. However, almost 20 years ago I called Bilstein's tech line and asked about shocks for a lifted rear 1st gen Tacoma. At the time, they didn't have a shock specifically for my setup, but the tech provided a shock part number for a different application (different vehicle) that was long enough and valved for what he thought was a similar weight and leaf spring rate. It actually worked pretty good.

Anyway, I'd call Bilstein's tech line and ask for a shock that'll work with your specific lift. If the 5160 isn't long enough, they may know of a different shock that's long enough that'll work.
