I saw this in the news. Unfortunately the driver being a juvee will probably get out with a light sentence.

The parents of the driver should get some jail time for nothing else but being a bad parent(s) allowing him to drive and cause something like this.

Edit: the whole gun thing from 3rd driver will be hard to prove if he denies it, sure he will.

man that's just awful all the way around.

we did dumb shit as teens. I recall shooting at a old bald guy (karma is a bitch) at a red light with one of those plastic disc guns (almost like a tiny Frisbee thing) and getting chased around some residential areas. of course back then (let's just say it was before cell phones) people didn't drive around with handguns in their cars.

I'm gonna say both drivers are in big trouble. the gun was not an appropriate response (assuming this actually happened---it's a bit self serving) and of course running a red light is not legal nor is driving without a license.

Yeah, this was on my side of town. Heartbreaking. There have been a few bad ones over here the last few days. Another guy was shooting at someone driving down the road and killed their seven year old daughter.

Hell, I just read a news article about two men in their early 30’s that were arrested for chucking rocks off an interstate overpass damaging cars. I think it was in CO.

Stupidity doesn’t have an age, that’s for sure.

Here in Austin we have had our share of rock throws tossing rocks of interstate bridges. It hasn't happened in a while but I honestly didn't drive that section of the hiway for several months. They did catch some 50 yo guy that was half cocked/off his rocker. But the Police don't think he was the only one doing it.

Thats terrible but i think flashing the gun as some kids was rediculous!
When i was 8 my brother and i threw some mushrooms from our front yard into the street and hit a moving car. We both got grounded for a month and dad whipped us with his belt...HARD!

We were on our way to evening church services back when I was a young lad. Some kids were throwing snowballs with rocks in them.
One of those smashed into my dads 66 mercury comet.
Being who my dad is, he kept his cool and kept driving, and then turned off two blocks after this incident. He went hunting.

About 10 minutes later he came back with two kids from our neighborhood and made them apologize to my mom for scaring the shit out of her. I will leave it up to your imagination what happened next.

Your mom was so excited after what your dad did that they asked you to get out of the car for a sec and your younger brother was conceived right there? :notsure:

Saw that..... Not kids....adults......................in Colorado..............Judges here can be very harsh...as in max sentences......especially if you get caught tossing rocks off a bridge at cars going at speed.

I dunno, @COMiamiFan, I'm not seeing a 'prank' here. Criminal driving resulted in consequences that anyone should have anticipated. Pretty much the definition of 'manslaughter'.

My kid is being taught to anticipate the possible results of any decision. And if it were me that got killed, my kid would be devastated. So whether I try to see perspective of these kids' families, or the decedent's I still see crimes, not pranks.

So, the mother of the 14 yr old is asking for leniency because her son was "running for his life". Her logic is amazing; never mind he was driving illegally and vandalizing others property. Lady, you should have taken the keys not hid them. And discipline your teen a little, I would have never dreamed of taking my parents vehicle out at 14.

They had hid the keys from him - maybe because he had done this before????? She should be charged for poor/non parenting!!!!

So cringe worthy on all of this. Not a prank it's vandalism. Did he expect people to just keep driving like nothing happened? My guess is no gun was involved the car just was going after the kid for what they did and he tried to flee. Now an innocent person has passed and even though they are older, kids have no mom any more. Just shitty situation all the way around.

The kids made a horrible mistake and need to be held accountable. I did some really stupid things when I was a kid. But as someone with a handgun carry permit, I would never pull my gun on kids for egging my car. I cannot blame them for then running from a guy pointing a gun at them. If someone pulls a gun on me in my truck, I'm going to drive away if I can. The guy with the gun made some horrible choices as well. Just a sad situation all around.

Your assuming it was someone with a license to carry, probably was not. The teens poor choices cost someone their life, a life that is sounding much more productive than his.

I hear ya. Him having a permit or not doesn't change much for me personally. The kids were vandalizing cars no doubt. But when someone pulls a gun on you, should they have just stayed there and wait to be shot? I'm saying that the man with the gun made things exponentially worse when he pulled then gun then decided to be a vigilante by chasing them in his vehicle. I doubt those kids set out that day to hurt anyone. Charging them with murder seems a bit extreme to me.

One thing I'll add is that the media often gets the story wrong. A few years ago a relative got into a crash that killed her infant son. The news claimed "drugs were present" when in fact, they were not. She was never charged as it was just a tragic accident. So who the hell knows what actually happened here. There is a good chance what we're being told isn't the full story.

I hope the 14 year old suffers for a lengthy amount of time. I know kids do dumb shit but I have little tolerance for this level of stupidity.
