What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Well guess I'm going to have to pull it out and go get it tested on Tuesday since advance auto is the only one opened on new years

No I don't have one, but I could get one if I can test it with one without having to pull it out

 

You can test the charge without removing the battery. Just set a multimeter to 20 volts and see what the terminals read.

 

Yep. Those are the ones. Much better looking than the clear. They were $7 at auto store.

 

Do they work for the rear too or just the front?

 

They should work for the rear, as well. You could use clear back there if you want, as the lens assy is full amber unlike the front markers. The clear puts out a brighter lumens which is why I used them in the rear. The Amber tinting dulls things a tad, but is needed for the fronts. Your call.

 

Everything is still squealing bad under the hood. I fear it's a bearing.

I will try that I'll go buy a multimeter tomorrow after work, but now that I remember when winter started here in ga and if would be in the high 20s in the morning she would struggle to turn over, and in a temp above 35 she starts fine without a problem til today that she just shut off on me while driving

I spent Saturday Morning changing calipers, rotors and pads. First flushed my brake fluid. Wasn’t super dirty but was needed.

Everything went smooth and quickly till the 2nd caliper. The brake line would not thread into the caliper. After trying for 10 minutes I re-threaded it back into the old caliper with no problems. So, went back to Napa to get a new one. Guys didn’t really believe me when I took it back haha. But of course got home and the new replacement threaded in no time. So that delayed everything by 40 minutes.

Other than that, bleeding was anoying and took some time but went smoothly. One of my bleeding valves on my front left caliper broke off. Half sheared off so it’s plugged. I left it for the meantime. I grabbed the 2 bleeding valves off my old calipers to switch out the broken one.

Were the bleed valves skinnier than the stock ones? That's the one complaint I have about the Beck Arnley calipers I got, they have some toothpick thin bleeders.

 

Trying to decide how much chrome to keep. Never really was a fan of the chrome strip on the fender well. Plasti dipped the chrome strip and the gray plastic that surrounds it. Next up is the side trim. I think the fender flares helps the wheel color.

I'm interested in doing the hood with the vinyl wrap to stop it from rusting untill I can figure out what to do with the paint. Have any of you done it on the hood and if so could you post some pics?

Also have a plastic tool box from academy sports that I keep the essential tools in the bed under the cover. Got tired of hearing it slide around so my girlfriend found one of the anti fatigue mats at tractor supply. It was the perfect size when rolled out and keeps all of my crap from sliding around the bed. I was happy that it was only 15 bucks because some bed mats can get expensive. Will post pics soon.

One of the step pads on my side steps fell off at some point. I have old ICI brand steps. Cannot find the replacement pad. Are there any generic pads I could buy for cheap even if I had to just glue them on?

I'm not a huge fan of the yellow. I googled this recently and it seems that people have misinterpreted the science here. Yellow, in this platform doesn't really help see more in fog. I suppose some do it just for looks though.

Yep. Never been a huge fan of yellow either, but trying to change things up minutely. Did the photo shop and gotta say it looks decent. Wish the LED BULBS were yeller and I could keep the lens clear.

So, wrap the lens with yellow and install these. The LED bulbs are 2500 lumen vs. 1000 lumen stock. Been eyeing the Supernovav.4 for the headlights, but the cooling fans are what is holding me back. These have no fans.

Toying around with ideas and just gathering info and building off a good base. Stoked on my new lighting now and seeing where it will go.

Another option is to wait till summer. I think this will be a big year for new LED options to hit the market. Seems like there will be a big jump in quality and useability with less jumps in price.

 

I'm thinking about getting their stand light. They have them at the supply house and I can put it on my tool account.

 

Nice. I like the clamping action on the one I bought. It has magnets also which are just strong enough to barely hold its weight with the battery. Barely. I opted to clamp it on the grill. That clamp is strong.

 

A clamp would be good. My SHO has a fiberglass hood.

 

I forgot to mention I finally found the right tool to suck out the power steering fluid. $5 at Advance. The old fluid is DIRTY!

 

Nice. Looks like yours is solid. My bulb slips off easily if squeezed to hard. Couple of DEX III refreshes and your steering rack will be loving it!

 

I've had these in mine for almost a year, seem just as bright as the stock bulbs.

Put a second layer of 2% tint on the back three windows. Love it. Going to put one layer on the front two when the rain and wind calm down.

 

No matter how much we love our trucks, 5-7 years is a long time. Anyway, the wrap may still be serviceable just not prime at the end of those years.

This. Even if the wrap gets pulled off in 5-7 years, the paint under (as long as there's no rust underneath before it's wrapped) should be as god as now.

I'm loving this idea! Just recognizing I've shown no abilities to do this type of project. I do know a guy....
