is there a purpose for the indented area, mid/top of dash? you move the mat and it appears there are slots for mounting something. are there accessories that mount to that?

okay. but i've been unable to find anything that mounts to it. whenever i attempt to find mounts, they are designed to attach to the vents or some other place. do you know of anyone using this accessories holder mount and for what? i was thinking of putting a wireless camera on top of a head ache rack so i can see behind me when the tailgate is down and i can monitor items in bed. that location would be great but i can't find any info on mounting there. i'm new to forum, so thank you for responding so quickly. any help appreciated

I don't use it for anything. I put my phone there for a few days, didn't like it.

LOL I'm 33, happily married, no kids as of yet. Don't want them right now (hence the condom mount reason for me!)
Don't want any other woman, but we stay busy, so the size of the mount suits me! Hehehehe

Of course, I do have a 2nd gen, so I just use it to see what time it is, temp, mpg, etc. so what do I know? LOL

Check out proclipusa.com . They have all kinds of mounts. I learned about them from here and bought a mount for my gps.
I just keep sunglasses and a toy airplane on the center mount tho.

I've seen people mount switches up there before for light bars, air compressors, lockers, etc but its permanent. The cut threw dash and rubber pad. Looks sharp though.

Dont think theres any real purpose for it other than a place to put stuff. The mat is non-slip type material so a phone can go there if it doesnt get too hot.

The tabs underneath arent for actually mounting other accessories, thats just what keeps the mat sitting in there firmly.

mine has precut slots in the dash under the rubber pad that i think i could make use of. push come to shove, i could make an adapter bracket easily enough, but it seems like i would have to go inside the dash to secure it. its an odd ball thing - i don't see that it in any way helps with servicing or dash accessibility. toyota had a reason for it, just haven't a clue what for. i will probably go back to original thought of attaching the monitor low on the windshield. but a appreciate the proclipsusa referral.
as for law323 - dude, you better hang onto that girl in the photo cuz God was smiling when that happened, lol

In Wyoming it holds your mixed drink from the drive through liquor store.

This is just a random curiosity on my part, but after having read all the above Comments, has anyone checked the Manual to see what it says? ........I haven't, it's just more fun to read what everybody else actually use it for........I mean like condom storage? Who'da ever at Toyota would have considered it so useful for such a purpose as Condom Storage, and label it as such in the manual.

Didn't read the Manual but I talked with my buddy Manuel up at Toyota and he vouched for condom storage.

.......as good a way as any to prevent accidents from happening, makes your Tundra an even SAFER pickup than F150? Silverado? Do these have a similarly designed dash panel? Toyota should do a survey & publish the results, or, we could do it here?
