What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

I wonder if it started in 04 when they added the DCs?

 

That very well could be, interesting none the less.

 

My 03 will start with just a bump.

 

My 02 doesnt. It gets mad when you try then doesnt want to start.

 

I'm glad someone else mentioned this. If I short stroke my 02 and then immediately try it again, she gets angry. I let it sit for a few seconds before trying. It's interesting that others can bump it.

 

Still haven’t reconfirmed the confirmation of the bump start, but will say that I can confirm what the 02’ guys have said based on past experience.

In our case, its better to ‘over start’ the starter than to bump it and have it angry at you.

I count quick 1-2- start! in my head when turing the key.

 

Regarding the "bump start"......my 2004 AC does the bump start, my 2002 AC does not....it's a cool feature, but i'll survive without it in the '02.

 

Confirmed. The 02’ doesn't bump start. In fact, it hates a quick bump which sends the starter spinning for a couple seconds without any simultaneous engine ignition turn.

Conclusion: Stick with turn and hold (1-2-start) method on the 02’.

2nd attempt at replacing the power steering fluid using the turkey baster method. I don't know where you guys are finding a baster but I still can't manage to find one skinny enough to really reach down in there.

This is all I was able to get out. That fluid looks dirty. I guess I'm going to jack it up this weekend and do that method instead.

Did you happen to replace the glove box bulb? It's not easy to get out. I got it out and realized I don't have the right bulb. Not even sure they make an LED that small.

Gotta order it. T10 bulb. 10 packs run about $12. Same bulb for footwell above parking brake. You can use the remainder for your instrument/climate panels.

 

Are they worth it? I can live with limited glove box light unless it's a huge improvement.

 

I think they are for a small $ amount. Plus you can use the rest on the footwell and control panel as they are required there.

 

This is the tool for you! I picked one up for Xmas. When I changed my leafs out I had to remove the upper Shock mount for some extra droop. Takes forever with a open end wrench.

This allows one hand to hold the shaft, and one to tighten / loosen the top nut.

 

Mine is not that way. I just went and pulled for 5 minutes.

Alright. My idea would be, either hit up a specialty chef supply store (or Amazon) for a small tipped baster... OR... they make syringes with long flexible tubes on the delivery side for administering fluid meds to human babies or animals (sublingual)... I'd guess vet supply would have best sizing for your planned use (longest tube, largest syringe volume.

Here is what my ‘baster’ looks like. Had to go look to remember. Auto stores have them. Mine was a .50c garage sale find.

 

I used some vinyl tubing to siphon the fluid into a catch can.

 

Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I’ve never replaced leaf springs, only coils. Seems pretty straight forward though.
