What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Replace the black cable with a green one and that counts as Christmas stuff.

 

Lol wow. No my truck has no rust . No rusty rusty cars here in San Diego
I've already had one of the shocks off. I had some Rancho shocks laying around I was going to put on but they didn't fit.
The old shock was easy to get off. I just put a pair of vicegrips the top part to keep it from turning.

 

I’ve got new 6 spot terminals arriving next week.

It was a nice, much needed upgrade.

Only thing else needing replacement is the ground cable (battery to frame). The one that is about 4”. I bought 1AWG instead of 2AWG. So my copper lugs aren’t snug enough. I’ll grab a 2 AWG cable tomorrow when stores open.

I’m scared to show the before photos lol but maybe it’ll motivate someone out there to replace theirs...

The NEG terminal end was nasty. Way overdue. The cable end was rock solid and swollen. I chopped that part off and got to some fresh stuff...

(Also sanded and repainted the battery clamp which is why it’s not pictured)

Now that everything is cleaned up, slather some no-ox on the terminal posts and any connecting clamps/wire slices. Throw some felts around the posts too while doing the above. Keeps the corrosion off. You’ll never have another problem like this again.

 

My girlfriend drew my truck as a Christmas present! It's pretty sweet.

Is the no-ox that red spray stuff?

 

Stuff I use is found at big box in the electical aisle. It in a white small squeeze bottle with blue label. The actual product is a dark gray gel paste. Its better than the spray red stuff. Looks like this. Zoom in a bit.

Fluid Film works great on battery terminals also of you have some around.

 

God I wish my snapped of. I think Toyota made them out of kryptonite reinforced titanium in my case. They just seized, but were super hard to cut - best of both worlds

 

Hot Metal Fab ditch brackets and BD Squadron’s, not wired up yet. Will probably go SP-9100 instead of rocker switches, relays and fuses.

8100? I like the ashtray for mounting. I’m lost where and how I’m going to mount the 9100. Probably just some 30lb 3M tape. Will have a ton of seat time in the next week so I’ll try to envision the best location. It’ll come to me by install time.

 

Well my truck is officially paid off.

 

Yep. Love this thing. Easy install and it cleaned up my wiring so much. Night and day difference. But another thing I use all the time is the Bluetooth App. I’ve had no problems with mine.

I almost went with the overhead mounting spot in the sunglasses holder, but it’s more difficult to reach and to push the right button without taking eyes off the road. So I went with the ash tray mount

 

thanks for posting this Fred. I can tell you've done your research. I just ordered the LED ZEVO's for the backup lights. Is that what you used for the cab light as well?

Also, what made you go with the "basics" for the fog lamps? It looks like they have some higher end options. Purely cost or did your research show those to be the best choice?

 

So I mentioned yesterday I had to modify my tool box rack to fit..here's some pics.

ZEVO’s at the Cargo Lights and Rear Back Ups because they are higher end and therefore brighter (cost more for it). Puts out huge blinding light confirmed showing some people last night. I imagine its like buying a light bar without the installation process. I did put aluminum foil reflective tape all throughout the Cargo as the old halogens burned holes and faded the silvering.

Went with the basic LED Sylvanias all throughout the interior climate, dome, courtesy/step, glove and instrument panel. ZEVO upgrade only at the 2 map lights (highest impact).

Basic fogs because those are what is in there now the OEM 17 years old used all the time at night. They have a nice white light for halogen and its a nice spread side to side. My fogs greatly improved when I acrylic sprayed the lens covers. Made them new again. See pic.

Long Life halogen incandescents on all other exterior bulbs (very bright due to newness). LED might be too bright and/or cause hyper flash? Law is strict around here.

This will hopefully be the last time doing any bulbs for another 17 years.

 

It's funny that you mention this as my fog covers are oxidized worse than my headlights. Is this what you used?
