Let's see your first gen - photo thread

This was my first Tundra I bought used in 2004. It was a 2002 SR5 TRD. Owned it for 10 years before I traded it for a Taco. Just recently got back into a 3rd Gen Tundra. That '02 ran great. Outside of regular maintenance (and stupid O2 sensors), I think I took it to the shop once in 10 years. Awesome truck which turned me into a Toyota loyalist. The pic is from Google maps...lol

Need help with tire sizes, 01 Tundra ext-cab Sr5, tire options 265-70-16 or 245-70-16, can I put LT 245-75-16 on with out any issues, including handling ????

 

2000 2wd V8 SR5 141K miles. Bought just last month, I traded in a '10 Prius II. Just put my foot into it and she growled, hadn't heard that in awhile!

'02 SR5 TRD 231k. Just bought and replaced the timing belt and water pump.
Bone stock, ready to start a new build.

 

This is exactly what I want mine to look like. What size tires and did you do a leveling kit?

I always wondered why some had pained fender wells and some were black. I thought it was a limited vs SR5 but that doesn't seem to always be the case.

 

My sr5 flares are painted.

 

Yep and so are his but mine aren't. Must have been different packages they offered.

 

They are 275/70 17 the barely rub at full lock in reverse. No leveling kit stock height. I've owned the truck for about 6months now has 78k

 

Grab a can of rattle and have at it. I actually toyed around on the color chart and pics yesterday seeing how my side mirrors would look color matched to the body. Mrs. PHM shot it down.

 

My side mirrors came color matched from the factory.

 

Hows things with your new set up? Came across your pic looking at spacer set ups. You happy? What brand/type spacers? Thank you.

 

With all this talk of tires and spacers I figure I'll just ask: will 255/80r16s(33x10x16) rub without spacers? I dont think they'd work without a leveling kit, but what causes the rubbing? Height or width?

 

Changed out all the bulbs on both sides of the rear lights assembly. Used incandescents in the brake and turn signal spots. ZEVO Sylvania LED bulbs in the reverse lights.

Heres is pic of the good ‘old’ bulbs that have been in there for years. Note the halogen black burns and hard to see white film which reduce light outputs. Can’t complain as they’ve lasted 17 years.

I’ll see if I can get some night time pics of the new bulbs later on.

 

I am overwhelmed by lighting choices. I want to go LED but I'm not sure where to start. Why did you only go LED for reverse?

 

The little extra brightness wasn’t justified going LED muted through the red/amber lens. The clear lens was justified. Plus, I want it as bright in reverse as possible so I went ZEVO level which is super bright.

Found this combo lens side marker WITH HID Upgrade 9003 and dual color side marker bulbs.

Always taking a chance with this Chinese stuff. Whatcha guys think?

There's nothing like the white knuckle drive of towing in 20 miles snow-covered steep canyon roads to get to your favorite fishing hole. Although catching over 40 aggressive winter Brown trout does make you forget about the boat sliding around the side of the truck at almost every steep downhill turn.

What is your combined MPG? 13-14?

 

I’m pretty sure that if you have 35’s, you aren’t concerned with your mpg’s.

 

Fair point. I was really just curious.

 

I get about 15 to 18. 13 to 16 if I'm pulling my biggest boat. But that also depends on the elevation that Im driving in. Had I not re-geared with 4.88's I'm sure I would be getting worse mpg.
