I have a 2014 Tundra CM non-TRD with the TRD wheels. Need some help deciding what I should do when my lease is up in May. Should I buy out the lease for just under $24,000 or trade it in on a new Tacoma TRD Off-road lease? It will have about 60K miles on it next May (I drive 400miles a week for work) so just turning it in isn't an option.

I can either buy it, or trade it in and use the equity along with my factory discounts on the Tacoma (I work for Toyota). What would you do?

Here's what I've come up with so far:
    Pros:
Able to add accessories as I see fit (lights, winch, bumpers, lift)
Own the truck after 4 years
    Never be upside down
    Cheaper Insurance
    Cheaper Plates

    Cons:
    No warranty
High Miles (unless I buy a cheap work car)
Fuel Economy (avg 18 vs 26 in Taco)
$80 oil changes every 3 months
    Throwing away my employee discounts

Any other constructive input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You can add a warranty at anytime. Your payments will increase on another new truck. I would keep it and start having fun with it. How many years do you have left on this earth? Enjoy life as much as you can.

I drive 500+ a week to/from work and after going from a Taco to Tundra I couldn't go back after gaining all the room and comfort of my Tundra.

Also, there have been many members here that have traded their 2016 tacos in on new Tundras because the new motor is gutless. Might be hard going from a powerful 5.7 to a gutless 6 cylinder.

I would test drive the hell out of a new Tacoma before making my decision. My neighbor down the street offered to trade his 2016 limited for my 2014 Sport. Nuff said there.

    Other aspects to look at:

    - At 60k miles, how much over are you going to be on the mileage and how much is this going to cost? That would be a big issue for me. If you have a typical lease of 12k miles per year and 0.10 per mile over, you just ate 2400.00. Looks like you realize this already, but might not matter if the cost or mileage requirements are different.

    - Since you are leasing the Tundra, one can assume you are writing off on your taxes the business use, unless you just have a long commute. In that case, not sure why you would be commuting in a expensive truck racking up miles on a lease. I would be out looking for a commuter car now, so you save 16000 miles from now until next May.

    - You're not throwing away employee discounts. They are a benefit when needed, kinda like medical insurance.

    - 80.00 for oil changes? Fook that.

Well, I've been looking up light bars and mounts all morning. I thought up until this point that Rigid Industries was the "only" option when it came to quality and the only manufacturer for quality mounts. Now, I can compare them the Yeti coolers. Nice to look at and functional, but WAY overpriced. I think I'm just going to keep my 14 and get a Camry for the commute.

ColoradoTJ, I commute to work in a $42K truck because I didn't want to pay for the $60K truck. ;)

You can buy out your lease at anytime, and if you finance thru Toyota they should wave the early term fee.

My humble opinion. Keep it. I used to have a Taco and I can't go back after driving the Tundra.

+1 for having fun with it and adding the accessories you want.

Probably a good idea getting a Camry. Some of the same advice I'm going to use myself. This will be the last truck I ever DD. In the event I would have done the same thing, right now my truck would have 19800 miles less. This is just back and fourth to work, not including all the stupid running around I do for "life". We could probably subtract another 15000 easy (I average 20-25k miles per year on my Tundra). Hell I would still be around 40k miles on my truck.

If I didn't DD mine from day one I'd have around 15,000 on it right now. But, I guess that's one of those "life lessons" my dad always told me about. Screw it, I'm still young and have plenty of time to learn.

Will your RTIC still have most of it's ice left (still chilling)after 6 days? My Yeti does consistently. Are RTICS IGBC Bear Resistant Certified? Just curious.

10 days would be a world record. Four Wheeler recently rated the top 6. RTIC wasn't one of them. 6 to 7 days tops if you properly prep the chest. And I know how to properly prep it. Just sayin. Proof is in the pudding.

My Yeti is going on 7 years. Functions fine. I use it all the time in hot and below zero conditions. Yeti has a lot of competition now. RTIC isn't one of them. I can't find any legit decent review for RTIC. I'll buy everybody a six pac here of their choice if you can document a RTIC still chilling after ten days. "chilling" as in cold enough where food won't spoil. I'm that confident. Oh, and I'll buy a RAM and trade in my Tundra.
