No longer Looking to buy 17inch rims

Figured it's a long shot but I'd take a chance if anyone is looking to sell 17 inch rims, I might be interested. I prefer a zero offset but will consider others. I have the CB steer kit so need to be lower than a +12 with or without wheel spacers. 5x150 bolt pattern. If you got them shoot me a pm.

I'm looking to mount these bad boys and don't really want to buy new if I dont have to, since I don't know if the setup will work for me yet.


So before you deal with some weirdo on Letgo or craigslist, give a trusted forum buyer/seller a chance at them. Don't wait too long, those that know me, know patience is not 1 of my virtues and I'll be looking in the meantime lol. Thanks guys.

 

Don’t mean to side track too much, but I have the coach builder tie rods too. I was looking at Icon 17” rims. Those are like +25. Are you saying that offset wouldn’t work? So Methods might be the better option...

 

Might want to give FN a call. They have 17" rim now. Not sure of the offset. Hopefully someone here has some RW rims for sale.

 

No problem Scott, yeah I just literally got done speaking with Dave Elkstrom on his cell. He said due to the size of the steer kit on a 17 inch rim you are gonna want something with an offset of +12 or lower. I do not know if the tire size also plays a part, but I'm guessing it does. We were talking about going to a 17 rim with a 35.4 x 12.4 true size Pitbull Rocker tire.

Right now I have stock pro 18 rims think +60 offset with 295/70r18 nitto RGs with a 1.25 spacer and that works fine which comes to like a +25 offset or so w/spacer. But that's on a stock pro 18 inch rim.

He said on a smaller 17 inch rim you're gonna want to get it a little further away from the steer kit's beffiness and stock suspension components.

I can not say if a smaller tire would change that since we didn't speak about that. I'll throw this in if it helps ya. He also said it's not a bad idea for me to do the body mount chop and bumper shim to give a little more clearance in there when taking offroad.

I took his advice and specs, he's extremely knowledgeable, on my last setup and I must say my truck handles like a dream. I helped others out with the specs by passing along and they were extremely happy too. It's worth a shot! I've got the 18" FN BFD's. The FN 17" ers look similar. FN uses virgin aluminum and pressure casting. Strong ass rims.

 

So rock warrior wheels with spacers will put you at +15?

 

+ 18 actually. Mike did day "close" to a +25. I think, and it's just splitting hairs, it's actually +28. But 3mm? Right around 1/8" so not much difference.

 

Yeah I've thought about that. I actually looked on Letgo yesterday to see if all those deals I was hooking you up with were still around. I'm trying to not spend a fortune since I don't know if I'll want to keep tires and 17 rim. I spoke to Dave Elkstrom today and was told with my steer kit I should go +12 or lower on offset. That was actually good news since I want to just barely poke out flares. That or dead even.

Hey Warren tnx for info. I prefer to lose the spacers if I could. That and this was before I had a chat with Dave Elkstrom aka coach builder, whom I trust with the life of my trucks suspension, tires, rims, steering ect. Basically everything under the truck. The discussions we've had over the years he has earned my trust and has always been spot on, very knowledgeable when it comes to these things. He informed me with his steer kit I already have I should go +12 offset or lower. He agreed with me that a 0 offset should work and that I should probably do the bmc and bumper shim kit to get that extra clearance for those times my truck is off blacktop. So now I'm really hoping to score a set of rims with that 0 offset. I know method at least makes them and they all actually just came out with a non fake beadlock look that actually has some newer technology that would allow you to air down on the trails without losing the bead. Even got them in a matte bronze finish. I think they have that offset option, if not, I know they make the NV in bronze with the fake beadlock look.

I like those new Method's. The fake bead lock is.......well.....fake. Kinda wish I had 17s, better tire selection and usually less expensive too. I'm running Methods (18" with the fake bead lock +18) and the CB steering kit. I wish Dave had the heim boots when I got mine. Mine get crazy squeaky when they get dusty off road. I didn't know there could be a clearance issue with 17" wheels so thanks for that info. Might become a non issue for me as I've got LT coming in the very near future.

 

Nice on the LT, Cant wait to see that. Glad I can help on the offset info with steer kit. Helped Scott before too finding that out, so that makes the 3 of us learning g something new today. Yeah I spray mine with tri flo every oil change/tire rotation 5k miles. If I get a squeak before then before. Just fyi, I've heard from Scott @InfernoPRO for $25 he'd send u the booted.
