    Hey guys,

I have a 2015 Double Cab SR5. I recently put a deposit down on a front leveling kit/installation. $450 parts+labor. Do you guys think I'm going to regret not leveling both the front and rear? or even just 3" lift? The appointment isn't til 12/27.

Thanks for putting up with my newbness,

    Vince

I guess it depends on your over all goal with the lift and what look you’re going for. We all have different preferences. What kit did you buy?

When I get around to it I'm going to get Bilstein 5100 shocks for the front to level mine.

You can always go back and add a rear shackle. Speaking of, I have a 1” BDS shackle for sale in the marketplace ;)

I honestly just set up the appointment and put down a deposit over the phone. Probably dumb to not ask what exactly they were ordering for me. But I started to think that although it'll be about $250 more according to the guy to do the rear as well, it might be worth it if its already in the shop anyway. Once I save up some money, i'd like at the very least 275/70/R18 tires (about 33's). I also dont want it to look like the truck skipped leg day so to speak in the mean time.

You didn’t specify what lift you wanted and they didn’t specify what they were ordering you? Do you know what the “out the door” price is for the mystery lift you ordered?

I’d yank that deposit..... I’d find what you want then go back. I had a level on my previous truck. It was a rough country 2.5” in the front and .5 in the back. They were just spacers. It never gave me any issues until about 100k later. But I traded that truck in on my new tundra which I’m leaving stock ride height wise.

Eh not dumb, just gonna be a block/spacer lift. If you’re doing it on a budget I’d say skip the lift and just use that money towards a max tire size on stock setup.

Aren't block/spacer lifts bad for the shocks?

On my old GMC and oversized tires it caused premature wear on my wheel bearings which I replaced twice. Once at 80k and again at 122k. My suspension was shot due to the bad roads I used to drive on for work so I couldn’t tell you that part

Can’t speak from experience on those. Others here in the forums could probably chime in. I just bit the bullet and went in on a fox c/o lift and love it.

I just installed 5100’s front and rear. Mid setting on the front and I am extremly happy with the setup.

I don’t understand why anyone lifts these trucks if not for bigger tires. You mentioned 275/70R18s; those will fit on stock rims with no lift and no rub. I like the stuffed look and much prefer a full wheel well and a little rake. A 2.5 or 3” front kit is going to make your truck look nose-high even if it’s perfectly level by the numbers, unless you do something to the back as well.
