It’s sad. I really like my truck but this sensor thing is frustrating. If it didn’t take over the whole center information screen when it malfunctions I would even notice it. Just let us bypass the information screen and turn the light off then all is good.

So an update to the PCS dilemma.... It appears the dealer has once again replaced the sensor with another new/ updated one. Its been OK for the past week, but time will tell. Also, I was offered a Platinum 7yr/100,000 Warranty by Toyota rep. Good? Bad? As I do plan on keeping the truck I'm leaning towards the plan. But my question is does the plan cover after the factory 3yr/36000? or is it from date of sale only extending the warranty by 4yr/54,000 miles? We'll see how it all works out. I appreciate any input.

I got the 8/125k for my sensor issues. That’s from time of purchase. I would take it. I am fighting corporate now for a buyback. They are saying our failing safety system does not affect the safety of our vehicles. so they will fight it. Take what you can get for now

What happens when you ignore the "BRAKE" alert and it slams on brakes itself and person behind you rearends you when there was no one in front of you and no reason to brake??? lol

I believe if you’re still accelerating it overrides the brakes. But yea, their comment made no sense.

Did you get the "clean sensor" message? Or did you get the "clear debris from windshield: front camera unavailable" message? As I posted elsewhere, I'm not sure mine is malfunctioning and maybe it's that the system is just really sensitive. The only time I get the "clean sensor" error is when it's raining out and I'm driving in heavy traffic. I think in the manual it says that excessive water buildup on the sensor will cause the radar to go offline. And the front camera, which I assume is the camera that is built into the rear view mirror, it can't be obstructed either or it will cause the PCS to go offline. My windshield was covered with frost the other morning and it caused my PCS to go off. When the frost melted, the system came back online. In this part of the country, we get a lot of snow, and there is really no way to keep both the front sensor and camera clear at all times, so I suspect I'll be seeing a lot more of that yellow PCS Off light.

I've had three false alarms in 8000 miles with the PCS telling me to "BRAKE!". All it was was the light/beep going off, it had no effect on throttle or braking.

No Alert... no clean sensor msg....nothing stating PCS unavailable... nothing! Just PCS turned on and the PCS"off" light on...

KFed - I had one time (for just a few seconds) where I had the clean sensor message. [truck was clean] Currently I have PCS on, but PCS OFF light ON. Appointment made for next Monday.

Joining this too. My truck is at the dealer right now for the same issue. 4 idiot lights in the first 1226 miles.

My buddy just picked up a new Tundra and his is doing this as well. This seems common enough that Toyota would presumably do something about it.

Now the problem is the "BRAKE" warning when no vehicles in front of me, happened twice in the last few days, is Toyota going to be responsible if the truck decide to brake for no reason and I end up getting rearended???? or how about if a child jumps in front of me and I can not see him and I should apply brake at that point but I don't trust the system anymore ????
I called my case manager at Toyota and like usual you can not talk to them directly, they have to call you back but I can not accept calls during the day at work.
    What a joke !!!!
I already filed a complaint with NHTSA.

Got mine back last night. They claimed to have "hours and hours" of troubleshooting time into it, couldn't replicate it. They also claimed never to have heard of this...and they're a top-10 volume Toyota dealer. This is going to be a long road.

Common line from Toyota which is sad. They know exactly what’s going on. Tell them they should maybe get their head out of their A** if they are so big and know nothing.

Hate to say, but I joined this club today but with even more lights. We had a snow since yesterday when I previously last drive it. I started the truck this morning to allow it to warm up and clear the snow and ice, and every possible light game on in the dash.

Pre collision malfunction, trailer brake malfunction, drive start control malfunction, trac light, both 4h and 4 low lights flashing...

I had to go pick up my son, so needed to drive the truck. This is when I found that the 4wd did not work, neither did the anti slip. Pretty well made it useless to have living in a snow prone area if this is how it's going to be. I have made sure window and logo grille thing is cleaned, all lights are still on.

Will call to dealer tomorrow as my sales guy hasnt returned a text..

Yeah, the dash says it best, "visit your dealer". That's not good at all. Hopefully they can get this worked out for you.

Update - So I was running the full gambit of problems off the lot and took it back in at like the 400 mile mark. Its been behaving pretty well since and I'm at 2,400 miles however I'm having the Brake Now alert go off randomly with nothing in front of me. It hasn't applied the brakes or anything like that but it does startle me and after my heart rate slows down it pisses me the F off that a brand new truck is having all these issues. I guess I will be taking it back to the dealer if nothing else but for documentation. I've also had the head unit completely shutdown and reboot on me several times now - really Toyota.

Any reasons why the 2019s will be any better at solving for this? Or same design and issue carrying forward? I assume same issues since looks 19Tundra joined in.

Add me to the list. After 2 months and 4k miles the PCS sensor off dash emblem is stating off even when the the main display says on. I have been writing down dates and times and taking pictures of the dash displays on each occurrence. Have an appointment on Monday. I'll do more than just be a burr up their ass if they don't rectify this.

I don't get the go to your dealer message as of yet. Maybe they took that message out of the newer ones due to the issues.

Had it yesterday morning on my 1.8 mile drive to work. Haven't had it since nor before. Just over 2.5 miles. Bought at the end of July.
Maybe it was frost on the front of the sensor lens as there was a good bit on the windshield.

Interesting to see all this. I've had my Tundra since April. I've experienced the RED BRAKE error a couple of times. Nice clear day, nothing in front of me....scared the crap out of me first time!
Also, every time it rains, after driving 20 minutes, I get the error light on the dash pre-collision is off (which I have turned off). I've mentioned this to the dealer twice, and they say they haven't heard of this before. I find that odd since I am seeing all these posts!

I'm finding that really rainy days cause the radar to go offline. I think this is normal in vehicles with this sort of technology. The people having problems here are the ones whose PCS is going offline on sunny, nice days for no reason at all. As for what your dealer said, I'm not surprised. Of course, they are lying, but there probably is no way to correct the issue so that's the only answer they'll give. When it first happened to me on a rainy day, I mentioned it to my dealer, and the service guy made some remark about "Well, this stuff is all brand new to us, so it's all a big learning experience". The guy has worked at the dealer for years and while this is the first year that PCS has been in the Tundra, to my knowledge it's been in other Toyota vehicles much longer. So it was rather disingenuous response.

When I had my 2016 Tacoma, I complained about the wonky transmission at one point, the service department people acted incredulous, and literally stated "We've never heard anyone complain about the transmission before", which on the Gen 3 Tacoma is an overt lie. Oh well.

Yup exactly...I live in San Diego with not much rain. As a matter of fact the times we have gotten a little rain it didn't go off or throw alerts.
