I'd love to go, but damn that's a long way on pavement, for a very short time to visit. I'm pretty sure I can't get more than a weekend off in June, so I was gonna fly in then mooch a local passenger seat (then Connor promised he'd let me drive :) :().

Tonight, I'm thinking Tundras to Sedona is more likely for me this year.

I was just typing up an invite of sorts. Yes, but no idea when or where. Sunday more likely. I was looking at Tenaja Truck Trail north of Fallbrook and up toward Santiago Peak. You interested?

...or that area might be a bit too close to the Holy Jim burn where they're pretty worried about mudslides right now. In my best Siri voice: recalculating.

You can't make this stuff up:

I'm having trouble reconciling this with the Flash Flood Warning that was sent to my phone earlier.

Happy birthday, Mike! I celebrated you with mud and rockets. Arrived after dark last night, followed a bunch of non-yahoo yahoos out into this (photo taken today; already dryer):
    IMG_5603.jpg
I think about 11 of 20 vehicles got stuck. While I was airing down in preparation for whatever rescue might come, a kid I met 2 hours before, sitting in the back seat of the BFT, got sick.

Picture me, in my most supportive mom voice:, "I'm sorry, Buddy! Are you feeling better? Good. ...Don't take this the wrong way: did you get any on the truck paint?") True story.

A solitary Jeep (hahaha! Auto-correct substituted "heap"-- no lie! but I corrected it because he's my current hero) pulled us out one by one.

Once the Jeep guy pulled me with a winch about 20' out of deep mud to less deep mud, I got moving (having moved out of line to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of mine that stopped suddenly, sucked down to the frame in mud) and made it out w/ trac control disabled. Got to dryer ground, unloaded a bunch of other people's camping gear so I could access mine, then carried Max Trax and rope back in on foot. Here's the BFT this morning:
    IMG_5604.jpg

    And here's my boots:
    IMG_5605.jpg
I'm still loving my Husky floor mats! (Bought through AutoAnything from my personal homie rep, @eccracer104).

Today I ducked rockets and boys who work to blow things up. Pretty fun!
I hope your birthday has been a good one!

Daaaang! That sounds like a time! Not necessarily a good time or a bad time but a time none the less haha.

Thank you for the birthday wishes!

Hope the rockets all went off without a hitch
