That's exactly what I did, except with a smaller round magnet. It holds the phone securly enough, and if I were ever in an accident severe enough to send the phone flying I doubt my concern would be with the choice of phone mount I chose. Easy on and easy off, no extra fiddling or force, I love it.

Try Pro Clip. A bit pricey, but it tucks in to the right of steering wheel, between vent and radio volume control. Keeps phone in place so it doesn't fly off.

I use Proclip and have for the last 7-8 years. Very satisfied. I use it with IOMounts mag holder.

Please do. Not sure that I'll act that quick but it will be nice to have anyway.

I use the Schosche magnetic holder and it works great for me. Magnet holds it firmly in place and it is easy to attach and detach. The mount also have a hook for the charger cable so it is also right there handy to quickly plug in to charge.

ProClip for me with a magnetic plate mounted. I've used it my 2007 and 2011. Very sturdy!
