Hi guys, probably a dumb question, but I was looking at my Toyota oil filter and saw a couple O-rings and a blue crush washer/gasket thing. I know the O-rings go on the oil filter housing, but does the crush washer go on the oil drain plug or the filter housing bolt? When I changed my oil neither had a washer, but the fumoto valve I replaced the plug with had one. Just wondering if I should pull the filter housing bolt off and chuck the washer in there or if I'm all good.

    It's for the drain plug.

Right on thanks man. That's what I figured but I wanted to be sure. Wonder why they don't come with one from the factory?

Really? Weird, my filter came with one. It was just loose in the box though, maybe the dude I bought it from hooked me up. I thought it was weird that the blue crush washer wasn't on my oil drain plug from the factory. Just metal on metal.

Quick question on the blue crush washer? Is the felt/fiber that’s adhered to the aluminum susceptible to outside chemicals; such as glass cleaner, gunk, pressure washer with soap. Just curious if there is anything to stay away from when detailing that area. My first post, so I look forward to reading up on here

Don’t quote me on this, but I wanna say 30 ft/lb for the drain plug.

I know the filter housing is 18ft/lb...and the filter drain cover is 9.

My Toyota dealer sells the filters for a good price and the parts guy puts a drain plug washer in the box with each filter.

FWIW, if you take out the drain plug and do not find a washer, make sure that one is not stuck to the oil pan where the plug came out.
