Big suspension upgrade for the Tundra!

I picked up a set of from @Toytec Lifts earlier this week. Here are a couple of pics from the install:



Very excited to be running these, especially here in Colorado. The shock bodies are anodized aluminum which offers much more corrosion resistance over a steel shock body. This means they'll stay looking nice and won't rust like some of the other options
(I hate mag chloride & road salt )

How the truck sits:


So far, these have completely changed the ride of the truck. The largest change is when hitting a series of bumps or potholes. With the spacer lift, the truck would dive into bumps and potholes and the steering wheel would jerk left to right. Now, I can hit the same "obstacles" and the truck barely moves. It completely absorbs the impact and the steering feels consistent. There are still a few very large bumps that you definitely feel. I plan to mess around with the High and Low-Speed compression adjustments to see if I can reduce that. It's nice being able to fine-tune the ride without having to take apart the shock

I haven't had a chance to air down while hitting the dirt. This is just feedback from Thursday-Now. Will collect more data on my trip to SoCal in 2 weeks. I'll have a chance to hit a variety of terrain and air down the tires. With that said, I'm very impressed with the build and ride quality, these are certainly set up well right out of the box.

More feedback will be shared after putting 1500 miles on them, keep an eye out for that post around the end of this month

That is awesome, I have some Elka’s on my can am outlander and it changed that ride. I can only imagine how it is the tundra

 

They seem to be the best in the UTV space. At least the feedback is extremely positive with that crowd. Glad they branched out and offered something for us

Very nice! If it’s not too much trouble can you get a pic of the upper rear shock mounts not drooped out?, there is a bit of trouble in this area with some other shocks, looks like Elka compensated for it. The Toytec signature blocks are a nice touch as well, had a set once when I was able to visit their shop to purchase.

 

I love my kings and have never let me down, but those look sweet and seem built better, price is crazy if I wanted to spend that much I would definitely get 3.0 kings front and rear. You should remove that front sway bar for a better ride, I've removed mine its been over 30k miles no problems and I haven't rolled over even speeding offroad.

 

Are you looking for pics of the tire clearance at the upper mount?

 

I'll leave the sway bar on (especially with the camper). I already have to corner at a slower speed

This is what I’m talking about. My driver side mount(both sides hit), you can see how much I’ve chopped it, and note the paint removal. Both Fox and King hit, but this is under hard use that I’m guessing 99% of people would not have an issue with. Looks like Elka accounted for it, so curious, nothing more.

 

From what I understand the Elka Tundra setups are made in Utah....

Just finished and updated our website for the same kit as you are running now

 

The camper is staying on so I'll try to keep all 4 wheels on the ground. I do plan to get up to a decent speed in the desert

UPDATE:

It's been 1500 miles and I'm still very happy with the setup. 12/22 I started my trip to SoCal and made a few stops along the way. The suspension rides very nicely at highway speeds and made the trip super comfortable.

The last 4 days I've been camping in the Anza-Borrego desert and had a chance to see what these shocks do off-road in sand, hard-packed dirt, and rocky terrain. I could maintain 25-30mph over a lot of the washes but had to slow down occasionally due to the camper on the back. It's still a little top-heavy.

I didn't air down the tires but I'd imagine at 25psi I could easily hit 35-45mph in some of those sections. I had to get back to SD to help family with something but I plan to head back to the desert in the first or second week of January. I'll let some air out of the tires and let her rip
