I've had my Tundra for about 6 weeks. Love it. Also enjoying the trial of XM. I've heard a couple people say that they've been on the free trial for over a year as Sirius has never deactivated it. Anybody else had that happen? I'm sure I won't be that lucky though.

3 months is all they give you nowadays (i think).
They do listener appreciation periods here and there where everyone's radio comes back online for free for a week or so.

I doubt it. They used to do free trials, I remember doing a few free 3 months on my Tacoma a few years back.

you can talk them down to around $5 per month if you work on em. just keep saying no on the phone till they give you the price you can live with.

caution: to get the $5 per month it is on auto renewal so be careful. sometimes they renew you at a much higher rate.

That’s a great tip! Companies pull a lot of shenanigans with auto-renewals.

The signal/reception sucks imo anyway. Just get Pandora or something similar for 4.00 a month and at least you can jump to another song easy enough. Pandora has offline GPS fed options for when you are out of cell range, Like mentioned above, it's way too much of a hassle to dicker with them periodically.

XM is satellite. Comes in handy here in CO up in the mountains where a cell signal is a dream.....

I hear you and know about it being satellite, for whatever reason the signal fades in and out far more than the cell service from my phone. In Vermont there is little to know cell service 3/4 of the time and the satellite buffering mechanism on Pandora in offline mode works almost all the time for me driving through totally dead no cell service spots all the time. I had XM driving through those same areas and it continually would cut in and out. Dynamics may different in Co, probably regional variances in coverages. When I lived in Co back in the 80's it was whatever you could turn the knob to tune in lol.

OMG, I'm on the phone with them now for over 30 minutes, they hung up on me just before giving me cancellation confirmation, nasty trick.

I don't see the value in it when I tune into "Outlaw Country" and Simon and Garfunkel are on. Now I'll add the Customer Service blows.

Go with a streaming service, get what you want.

It's like canceling AOL account back in the day!

They must reconcile in Dec, didn't realize I had a free trail, I noticed the radio reset and I lost my Elvis channel, that really pissed me off. Charging Extra for ELVIS?!

Mine was due to be auto renewed on 12/9, I called them yesterday and told them I'd take the deal they sent a couple of weeks back, to reactivate the radio in the Tacoma I traded in on the Tundra; $4.99/month, $60 for the year. They said that deal was only good on renewals of deactivated radios. I told them they could deactivate my radio then, and I may come back, if they mail me that offer for the Tundra radio. Bingo. $60 for the next year.

They send me a reminder every year that it is going to auto renew. I call them every year and tell them to cancel it. Then they give me the good deal again LOL. Stupid dance, but I like having it when going on trips.

I had XM for the 3 month trial and realized it’s pretty worthless to me. I found myself hearing the same 40 songs over and over on the 2 or 3 channels that I found interesting. I use Amazon Music or just listen to what’s on my iPhone. If I want some talk radio, I’ll change to a podcast.

Since I read your post here, mine too ran out today after 8 months of free listening.
Haha! I really thought that someone had made a mistake (in my favor) when I purchased my 2017.
But here's the thing, it was a used vehicle.
Eight month trial with a used truck?
    How lucky was I!

Heard some good things about this antenna from truckers for those of you in bad spots. Trying to figure a way to mount it on the 02’ for that Secret Service look.

XM channel 125 from 9am-3pm daily weekdays.

My 3 month trial period on my XM that I got when I bought my Tundra is about to run out. I got a call from XM last night about subscribing. The guy started off with an offer of $5.00/month+tax for 6 months. I asked about a discount on a longer term and he offered $8.00/month+tax for a year. Playing along, I said I'd think about it and call back. He then offered a 3 month period for $2.00+tax total. Here's the email:
    upload_2018-12-20_8-23-21.jpg

Note that all of these special subscriptions come with automatic renewal for the full service (you know there's always the fine print at the bottom of any offer). Here's what the email says:

    upload_2018-12-20_8-25-2.jpg
But all you need to do is call them before the trial is up to cancel/renegotiate. I put a reminder in my calendar to do so. When the time comes, I'll call them and see if I can work any further discounts out because, while I really like the service, I'm sure as hell not going to pay $26.50 a month for this service.

The worst company with terrible tactics. I dont mean to derail but I would rather listen to my passenger pick their toe nails than deal with those clowns.

yeah, I had a Tacoma a while back and my free trial period lasted for almost 5 years. I think someone finally did an audit and realized that this vehicle had actually been purchased. I came out to drive it one day and the XM was deactivated.

DirecTV is the same when it comes around to renewing Sunday Ticket. It was $350 or so this year, I called and got it for $0, plus a $40 credit per month for 12 months.

If you don't mind having an external tuner there are lifetime subscription radios on eBay.

I've had mine since 06, it's nice since I can't pick up the same radio station for my whole commute.

Yes! I dumped them as well. Just use OTA tv and Apple TV. However, I don’t think Direct is in the same class as XM. Those guys are predatory and will hound your ass until you go nuts on them.
When I did sign up I thought their reception was pretty average.
