Everyone deserves a thread to vent in once in a while. So im cashing in my complimentary free rant token now.

Today as most started pretty well, was even kinda warm later in the afternoon. Seemed like a great time to meddle around with a few little things. One being my audio system which needed some attention. I had to track down some rattles and resonance in the panels, upper storage cubbies, ect...

Found a few and fixed them. I was quite pleased with myself and i love to reaffirm my awesomness and force those that are in shouting distance to acknowledge it also.

In celebration, as i deserved, it was time to go blare my obnoxious super low bass enhanced music for all to hear. They might not of known we were all celebrating but i did.

After tiring of the amusing looks i had been receiving in the walmart parking lot it was time to be grown up again, but atleast a happy grown up.

Im now in the home stretch. Drove an hour to my little sisters to fix stuff that her crazy, but cool, young boys destroy. Ehh... I will admit, i may encourage my nephews, but whatever, fixing broken things is kinda what i do when it comes to homes.

Drive an hour back cause ofcourse my mom always has some project she been dreaming up and i guess i sorta owe her a lifetime of free labor....

Its now right at dusk. Ppl are nust turning on their head lights and its still busy on the roads. Kinda like every other day. Im heading to my other sisters house cause.... Yep, she is in tbe process of getting her house ready to sell.. Pretty typical day to be honest.

Im on a 4 lane road, 2 lanes on each side and no median. Im in the left lane and slowing down for my left turn. Speed limit is 50 or 55 on the oncoming traffic side.

Going about 40 slowing down with my blinker on i see the oncoming vehical riding the yellow line way to tight an i got an 18 wheeler on my right...

Surely this person isnt going to wander over my direction anymore, right?

    @$#&%×+$!!! OF COURSE HE WOULD!

I hear a loud slap!. Oh hell no!
At my turn, which i was pretty much at and there was no oncoming traffic, i whip a uturn and get on the gas. But the odds were not in my favor.

I backtracked a mile or two hoping the other driver was stopped waiting or at least stop at the store unaware i was looking for them, but that never happened.

    1205181738b_HDR.jpg

To my surprise all that was damaged was the small mirror.

So..... Is that the mirror that isnt replaceable? If it is replaceable, anyone with a link to a "how to" thread?

I know the upper ones will pop out but i once tried to get one out and was unsuccessful.

And obviously its not worth getting my insurance involved if its something simple.

    Chris,
If you haven’t learned this yet, it’s simple:
    “No good deed goes unpunished”

Unfortunately, I’m unable to offer you any help on the mirror repair, good luck!

Not sure if it’s fixable but a new mirror assembly is 200 bucks so definitely not worth an insurance claim

    Flux capacitor!
Sorry to hear about your truck. Here’s a link to replace the driver side lower glass mirror. This looks like the correct part. I hope this helps.

It seems like that’s how everything works. Whenever I’m on a roll of good deeds, often I come out with a couple of bumps and bruises. Sorry that happened, at least it wasn’t bodywork.

Upper mirror is replaceable, but the bottom one is not. It has to come with the entire assembly.

It’s a cliffhanger. Tune in next season.

Sorry this happened Chris. At least they didn’t come over far enough to hit you head on. Probably playing on their phone. I see that crap every single day. One of the few things I’ll actually yell at someone on the road about.

I see it near everyday. Door dings, parking lot wrecks, I even have a scuff on my passenger front window from someone throwing stuff (I’m betting rocks/ pebbles) off an overpass in Memphis.

Saw the idiot as I was nearing the overpass, didn’t process what was happening until I saw him wind up and let loose at me. Would’ve had a nice crack in my windshield had I not swerved.

    Oh the memories....
And that reminds me. Week number one of getting my Tundra and even with her age the previous owner did really well at keeping my truck looking pretty damn nice for those 10 years. Its just that...

It would of been nice if the lawn service folks could of parked out of our way. Instead they pulled in the driveway and parked all snuggly close to me.

Their truck and trailer also were blocking my view from the area i was working. In hind sight, i know the exact moment one of them dinged my drivers door. Took off a dab of paint and left a dent.

Im the type of guy that can be raging inside but keep my cool for just about any situation as long as the other person so some restraint themselves.

Not that time! And probably was a good thing they were gonna and it was just my crew. I mean, i got a truck packed to the brim with tools that dont need much more than a moment to turn into some Wess Cravins type "implements of destruction".

Thats honestly scary. Throwing anything, especially from an over pass, could cause terrible things.

Seriously, that is scary to think about.

I have a set I’ll give you. One is broken. I’ll get pics tomorrow since I don’t remember which is broken. If I have a good one, you can have it.

Found a picture. The drivers side housing is broken. Glass is perfect though. Don’t think this helps much. Passenger side is flawless though.....

I will see if I can get the small mirror out though. If so, I’ll let you know and mail it off.

    Y'all folks are awesome.
As much as i appreciate the help and offers im gonna live with it until the holidays pass.

Honestly im just super busy and anything i can postpone, even the simplest of things, im going to.

Im not sure when it happens, but the Christmas season goes from "i cant wait" to "its that time of year again?" All of a sudden.

Thank you everyone for being awesome though. Ill definitely revisit all these options after the "holiday marathon settles down some.

I totally get this, and recognize you, my spirit twin. "Vincent, you are my bruh-ther!"

I'm done in every year by how much extra seems to come my way, when I'm already too damn busy with holiday season doings. <sigh> It's good you're able to set limits onstead of adding 'just one more thing'.
