I've been tire shopping as I get ready to order wheels and came across this new Goodyear A/T option at my local Discount Tire. Sounds like it is a DT exclusive for now. The tire weight for an LT 275/70-18 is 55lbs - not bad.

Does anyone have any feedback on this one?

Good looking tire. What is the price, load rating, and ply?

    Chk out discounttiredirect.com

The LT, 10ply, 275/70-18 is $228 apiece with a $50 mail in rebate. They show a load index of 125 - not sure exactly what that means.

I think these are similar to the Duratrac knock offs that Wal Mart sells. I just asked Goodyear and they cannot provide specs. Pretty crappy when a tire manufacturer cannot provide specs for a tire they make. I left with they probably have the same crappy sidewalls as Duratracs.

I run Durratracs on my wife’s rig - and have since they came out (she’s a grocery-getter not a trail rig).
She needs new tires shortly and we may offload the rig soon, so these are appealing.

I looked at these in person yesterday. They did look pretty good. The sidewall was really really soft though. Like if you scuffed up against a curb it was going to leave a mark. Probably rides great because it’s more supple. The salesman was pushing it like it was the best tire ever made especially when you compare it to a KO2 which is garbage. So....they had time to put tires on while I was there ....so I went with some garbage KO2S! I wasnt ready to test out a new tire that didn’t have any long term reviews yet.

Been buying tires for over 30 years. My KO2's have been some of the best I've purchased.
    But, those GY's look good.

Load index is a tire load carrying capacity.

Load range E tires (or any for that matter) are not rated the same. I used to think “just put some load range E tires on, it’s good.” Well, come to find out, LR E tires have a pretty wide rating, starting at 3050 lbs all the way up to 3740 lbs each.

Here is a chart that can help with this.

those GYs look good because they look a lot like KO2s to me :) I would stick to KO2 or Toyo or Nitto imo.

I couldn’t find the ultra terrains on that link. They do look like it toned down version of the Duratrac.

I think these are pretty new, and like you said above, only offered through DT. I was actually in my store getting my tires rotated Friday and saw these on display as well. I have to say, they looked really good in person! Definitely be interested in some reviews on them if anyone gets them.

So I work at discount tire, and companies offer us employees special rebates so we try out new tires. The ultra terrains are in line with the ko2s in the snow. There is no warranty so for right now nobody is sure how much life they're gonna get, but I will say, the initial tread is 4/32 deeper than that of the ko2. They are 10 ply, and load range e which means you can haul and inflate up to 80. Def a good buy

Stock for now, but have TRD Rear Sway bar for it.
I am going to buy these next month and then have a 6 hour drive to Tuscon, so will be able to really evaluate. They look good, very similar to KO2's, but less expensive and available in load range c or E depending on size. This particular tire is manufactured directly for Discount Tire, that is why you can't find additional information on it. Google it or go to DT website and look it up. Good tire, good looks and good brand. I think the P rated version also has a 55,000 mile warranty. Will see, otherwise I am getting Falken AT3's.

Sorry to piggyback, but western WA just got hit with uncommon weather pattern. Two weeks easing into my truck Im questioning the stock Dueler H/L Alenza's ability to keep up with potential esp since it is rated for passenger or light truck. Im willing to get some chains or better yet, higher rated winter or snow tires but not certain how to properly pick/choose. I like and have had good experience with DT , so would these UT's be adequate and/or better than my stock? Also I am now on 275 55 r20 (Type D?) so should I stick with current wheel/tire size? Example, what's impact of going with the 18's? Have had crash course of RTFB and tire shop specs, but been o/s last 20 years so not quite educated myself yet on wheel/tire sizes and requirements. Any and all recommendations most appreciated.. TIA

Just looked at these at Americas Tire, they really do look good. Tread blocks are a bit on the soft side, great for off road traction I bet but I like a bit harder tread for wear.

I used to work for Goodyear, although I like their tires, they seem to wear fast. Great tires but IMO don’t last long. I prefer general,Cooper or dynapro

    Just my 2 cents.
