Well, Carolina and I made the decision to condense down to one vehicle seeing how we both work from home and I have a company car.

I really did like the Tundra but not a fan towing with it.

Decided to get back into a diesel with Carolinas approval. Lol

2017 with 23,000 miles. XLT chrome package with heated cloth seats.

Ordered some covercraft seat covers and max liners for it to get the inside protected.

I’ll still be around. Lol great group of people here and I enjoy it!

My complaint with towing is coming from the fact I have had diesels for 15 years so it was a change. Haha

Best of luck with the new ride. I almost jumped ship a few months back to step up to a heavy duty truck. I decided to put that idea on the back burner for now and focus on paying off the mortgage (I am really hoping that 2019 is the year it finally goes away).

The Tundra is a good truck, but it really isn't that great for towing really heavy loads, and the payload is almost laughable. I will upgrade to a heavier duty truck eventually.

Ronald, I agree. I don’t tow heavy but it does change your perspective when towing anything after having a diesel.

We figured with the trips we will have in the elevation towing the Ranger that it will better suit our needs.

We took a little hit on trading both our new 2018s in but financially it was the right thing to do and we are saving $$$$ with not having another car payment and insurance.

Back when we bought the 4Runner and Tundra, we had no clue things would change like they did and we would both be working from home. Things may have been different if we could see the future. Haha

Congrats. I love my Tundra, but I still struggle with my decision to get a Tundra over an f250 everyone I see one towing. Enjoy it, and know I'll live vicariously through you, as you do through us as well ;-)

    Gotta do you, bud!

I do wish toyota would think about producing a 3/4 truck! They’d get plenty of customers if this forum is any indicator. Of course it may be a case of product cannabilization, sacrificing the tundras profit for a diesel

Instead of having a 4.6 and 5.7 option, they should just do a 5.7 gas and a 5-6 liter diesel option. All of the components on the Tundra, with the exception of suspension, are at or very close to 3/4 levels. So it really would not be a stretch to do this. And they could keep it all Tundra, but have the 5.7 a 1/2 ton and the diesel a 3/4 ton, or just do a 3/4 at a 1/2 price point. Maybe I am just too naive, but I think this is a workable solution.

You do make a solid point. It sounds like it would work well, but what do we know? LOL

Good luck with the new truck. Wife and I almost bought a 2018 rclb f250 diesel before the Tundra, but I just couldn't get past the regen smell. Felt like a freight train though when you got on the accelerator :burnrubber:

I would have gotten the Titan XD if I needed more towing than my Tundra provides . Better fuel mileage and better warranty than most HDs, but maybe not enough for your needs.

Those seem to be great trucks but I couldn’t bring myself to driving one.

My truck is overkill for what I need but it’s what I’ve known and wrenched on for years. Plus with our move to Idaho here soon maybe we will get into a camper.

Not me. The Titan XD with the C doesn’t impress me.

Interested in this warranty though. Every domestic diesel I have purchased comes with a 5 year/100k mile factory warranty.

Well your site name fits now. Powerstroke 250. Lol

The XLT package actually is pretty nice enterior wise. A couple of my buddies had XLT packages trucks and went with Lariat or higher, and said the XLT seats were more comfortable.

Glad you did the FX4 package, that should get you the factory rear selectable locker, which is nice.

On your way to ID, stop by for a beer.

Chris, I do like this package and the seats are comfortable. Leather would have been nice for the dog hair but seat covers will work.

If I have a chance, I sure will. Otherwise, we will make a trip down and meet up!

Congratulations on your Ford. I just (thankfully) got rid of my 08 about a year ago. Let's see: Replaced all A/C components, computer module, twin turbos, front and rear main bearing seals, high pressure fuel pump, radiator, on and on and on. Mostly freeway miles, a little towing, 4wd on dirt or icy/snow covered roads. Never abused and always maintained well. I'll go back to buying American when American auto manufacturers become as patriotic as I am.

That’s very unfortunate to hear. Those engines in particular along with the 6.0L are plagued with numerous issues. I’d even be daring enough to say that the 6.4 is worse than the 6.0.
