Snorkel identification?

i found this beautiful snorkel on a Russian site and was wondering if anyone knew who made it.

 

That's actually pretty sharp compared to the ARB.

 

What’s up with the Russian’s doing a better design job than the US folks? (Minus Camburg front bumper) lol

I’d be concerned about the engine getting enough airflow. The typical snorkels (safari,Airlfow etc) are designed in a way to maximize airflow to the engine. There’s actually some science behind their designs.

 

Yep^^^^^^^^^I'd be concerned about airflow. Our 5.7's need lots of air. The inlet on that snorkel might be OK for a 4 banger...

 

I thought about that too, since I’ve made snorkels from scratch, and I think if I create front openings that force air in during travel, then it should get enough air for my little 4.6...especially with a K&N filter, and cooler air than what is usually accessed from the engine compartment.

 

Maybe modify the top with a larger inlet? Lop off the the top inlet and rig up a nice looking larger inlet?

 

Yes. That’s what I’m planning. Nothing huge though, as (much like water or electricity) air can only flow in volumes as much as it’s narrowest section can handle.

 

For those wondering, the price is $625 shipped, and they only make one at a time...so there is a longer wait or that process as well.
Also, the snorkel is coated in line-x, as opposed to the usual bare plastic construction.

 

That is a good point. That upper section is a bit narrow. Looks good but narrow. Volant made one. A poorly reviewed one due to the craziness of the install but inlet and main tube is more than large enough. Quite bulky looking actually...Guess you need to find that sweet spot in between!

I suppose...if there’s a Chinese shop in Russia that makes snorkels to order.

 

I ran an ARB snorkel for about 12 years on a Tacoma. That snorkel head design looks pretty but would be simply awful in a snow storm or heavy rain.



This system flows air in a way that pushes rain to the sides. It can also be turned backwards for heavy snow so it doesn’t build up. Plus for major dust you can add a precleaner. Real usage, not mall princess.

 

Hey, them Chinese get around! Seriously though...I think I've seen pics before of that Russian Line X 'd 6 wheel Tundra. You might be on to something. Snorkel design is cool but dang it looks narrow. I wonder if they have worked up a 7 to 13 snorkel?
