I would worry about condensation build up after 6 months

Condensation won't happen if you run the engine at operating temp for a while. it's the short trips in cold weather that'll kill oil.

Short cold trips with 11 month old emulsified oil will kill the engine even quicker! There is a reason there is a mileage AND date on your oil change sticker. X amount of miles OR 6-12 months for synthetic, 3 months for conventional, as it is more prone to emulsification. If plan on keeping the truck a long time, do it as they say. If not, fudge it, next guys problem when you trade it in!

Got it, that actually looks pretty freaking good. I do have to ask if you have an aftermarket airfilter or not though.

I know my Tundra isn’t in this group BUT, I change my oil almost every year. Somewhere between 15k and 40k miles. 326,000 miles and still going!

I use Schaeffer Supreme 9000 full synthetic 0w-20 and I'm at about 8k miles right now and it still looks clean. Going to change soon and then have them do an analysis. They will have it checked for how much fluid life is left in the oil and recommend an interval for me. Will try to update after I have that back. I also put their full synthetic gear oil in the diffs and t-case.

No Sir. Mama Toyota factory air filter. I changed the original at about 20,000 miles. And it looked really good to the eye. I'm at 42,000 miles now and have anudder factory air filter sitting in the garage. I'll replace it sometime in the next month or so.

It would be interesting to swap it out sooner than later and see if your Silicon numbers go down.

Change at Every 3000-4500 miles depending on Heavy Service or not.

Heavy Service is defined as: 1) using your vehicle on a regular basis to tow/haul, 2) frequent short city driving, and 3) extended driving over 90° temps.

The 1st Gen loves the new change over to Mobil1 ‘Advanced Full Synthetic’ from whatever syn-blend the service shops put in.

    Oil changes are cheap insurance.

I bought my Tundra with 125,000 miles on it and use 15,000 mile mobile one oil, I also have a 2004 4 Runner with 264,000 miles on it and have always used Mobil one with an oil change interval @ 12,000 miles, once Mobil one came out with 15,000 mile I went with that oil and the 15,000 oil change interval at right around 125,000 miles on the 4 runner, will do the same on the Tundra. The 4 runner runs good, no problems.

is there any way to get an oil sample if you have the dealership do it ? I guess tell them to fill the specimen bottle ? what is the process to having your oil tested ? the oil change is the only thing I let them do ( I figure they're on the hook for any F up ) that and I live in a condo .

I worked for a division of Shell Oil back in the 1990’s. They REALLY appreciate the massive profits they make from the marketing done by car Mfg and others on the necessary frequency of oil changes!!
I talked with experts at a research facility. In lab setting they ran 2 bus engines simulating school bus driving and conditions. Engine 1 had all the required maintenance. Engine 2 had nothing done. After 100,000 miles they broke down the engines. Even under a microscope there was no differences in West & year. ZERO. The scientist said and I quote: “Oil is oil is oil.”

How often do you change your oil? Based on the knowledge you’ve shared. In other words, do you believe and live what you wrote?
