Since this is a Tundra forum, I figured the best place for a Tacoma question would be in General. Please move if need be.

My wife has a '16 Tacoma TRD and the hood is incredibly heavy. I was curious if there are any springs or anything I can install to help lift it? We always have to check under the hood for cats in the winter and if I'm not home, she can't lift it herself. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks..!

I've seen them on Tacomaworld.com before. Tacoworld and tundras.com both have really shitty search functions. I find it works better if you use google and do a advance search within the specific site.

I do believe redline has come out with a kit to help with that. A little pricey but gets super great reviews. I agree the hood is stupid heavy on the 16 taco TRD sport. I would order one of these for my wife's 16 Tacoma but she is way to anal about me drilling holes in her brand new truck.

Just a few, more to come
I've had Redline Struts on both an 07 Tacoma and an 03 Tacoma, they worked great for me. Very much needed on the Tacoma IMO (thanks for giving us struts on the 4runner and Tundra Toyota! lol)

Just looked at the install PDF.. you have to use a rivet gun? You can't just screw it into the metal? Humm...

    Not nearly enough room here!
004.jpg 005.jpg 006.jpg I called Redline a couple times asking about a Hood- Strut kit for our 09 Pilot. I was told, "we're too busy" so instead of paying $100-125 for a "custom" kit,I bought a pair of Struts and brackets for $30-40 and did it myself. You'll find many of these Strut-Kits use the fender and hood bolts for their brackets. If you look at the pics, that's what worked for me.Had to move my underhood light to a new spot but it was pretty easy too.A pair of 40lb (each) struts worked really well for the light Honda hood.

Good thought, I'll have to look into that.
