I know how to do the normal cord wrap and I see there are instructions for that, but this style of cord wrap I like! Do you have instructions on how to do this?
By the way, Harbor Freight carries parachute cord for dirt cheep, a buck can do both driver and passenger sides. Just not the color selection as Hobby Lobby tho...

Harbor freight has good and bad items, I do buy certain things there but I call them disposable tools. Don't get me wrong I like their stuff. I wouldn't buy the cord from them just because I would be afraid of the dye on the cord coming off onto my hands or worse on the interior of the truck. With a coupon you can get enough cord to do 3 trucks for $5.50 in Hobby Lobby. I'm not taking a risk of saving $2 or $3 on a $40,000+ truck.

    Thanks for the link!

I have installed the HF cord on my Tundra, but I'm not sure where this dye info came from. I have absolutely no dye coming off on my hands after weeks of driving. Not that I'm a HF fanboy, having loads of Snap On, Mac and Matco tools in my toolbox. That particular info was meant for those who may want to try it on the cheep.

I pulled my handle I had installed on my 17 tundra off my truck when I totaled it. I need to transfer it to my new truck this weekend. The people in the lot probably thought I was crazy.

Ok people, I have a question please. I have wanted to do this mod forever as I am of the female persuasion and only 5'1 on a good hair day. I already have to have the seat all the way forward just to reach the damn gas peddle, as these trucks are way more beefy than my 2009 Silverado. I would love to do this mod as it would help me climb in my truck w/o the assistance of grabbing the steering wheel, but I am afraid of it impeding my view. Have any of you noticed this at all? When you sit naturally, does it block any part of your view compared to pre-install?

Zero blockage here. And I'm 6'9" with the seat all the way back. I would think if I don't have an issue, you definitely wont based on the angles.

I emailed Toyota and asked why they deleted it. I stated that there are a thousand forum members asking and we have come up with all kinds of guesses as to why. I was going to add a ? about what we are going to do when they redesign and exclude it but held off on that one.

Question. Are the airbags in the A pillar the same or do they have different part numbers for the grab handle vs non grab handle?

Just came across you post after I posted my question about the airbag deployment. It still doesn't answer my question if it is the same airbag part number and if the older handle will work with the 2018 and up trucks

When I called Sparks Toyota the parts guy told me that it is a different part number. He told me that if the air bag needs to deploy that it will work same as a non grab handle.

    Hello everyone,
Just bought a New 2018 1794 Tundra Black.
Getting in and out are, to say the least hard for me and funny for others to watch, LOL
So, I found this thread and, Damn every one of you . I just bought the handle.

I'm also having the dealer install the push/remote start this Wednesday.
Now to pick a set of running boards. Here is the set I'm leaning to

Purchased my White 2019 Tundra Limited a couple of weeks ago; still missing my 10 year old Tacoma, but the Tundra will tow! Installing the drivers-side Grab Handle is the best mod so far. (Thank you Tundras.com for showing me upgrades I didn't even know I needed!)

I share others concern about any interference with the side-curtain airbag. Understand the U-nut and long bolt are behind the airbag, but not wishing to cause any interference I made a small change in the install procedure that I've seen a couple of others refer to.IMG_2709.jpg
U-nut and 1/4" x 1 1/4 inch bolt on left, M6-1x25 Hex Bolt and M6 Riv-Nut on Right. That u-Nut would stick out way to far into the area of the airbag. I had to open up the bracket hole just a few thousandths to insert Riv-Nut. 10 seconds to crimp the Riv-Nut and we're almost done. Of course, you need a Riv-Nut setting tool to go this route, but I'd already bought that to lower the factory bed rails to clear the rails for the Bak-Flip Bed Cover I added earlier. Nice clean install, and no possibility of any interference with the airbag.

    IMG_2707.jpg
Here is the Riv-Nut installed in the mounting bracket. Now it's just a matter of putting in the pillar and bolting the handle to the upper factory nut and the lower Riv-Nut I just installed.

    IMG_2708.jpg
Job finished, 20 minutes or so, start to finish and a most useful addition to my Tundra. Thanks Tundras.com for guiding me through this.

All of y'all convinced me that my 1794 needs a drivers side interior handle...so I just ordered it! :yay: Thanks everybody. Total spent $161.29 shipped to Northern California.

Thinking of going the rivnut route. Do I have to use a steel one or will an aluminum one be ok? Maybe I could just drive down to a body shop and ask them to put a rivnut in for me?
