First off, new member here and nice to meet you all. I have a bone stock 2015 crewmax platinum. I am really looking for a better ride from the front so I purchased the 6112 Bilstein setup from suspension connections. They had a hella deal @ $595 shipped. That being said I am looking to simply level the truck with this setup. Has anybody put these on their vehicle and if so what setting on the shock assembly did you use? Family owns a shop, so install will take place there. Any input would be greatly appreciated guys. As an aside this truck is a pavement cruiser, it will never go off-roading, but I do tow my rather heavy boat with it. It currently has a ready lift automatic rear airbag setup to help with the weight of the boat and trailer.

1.9” setting which I believe the the second from the top will get you leveled. I just installed these last month on my crewmax and found that setting paired along with a shim for the drivers side got me level.

    Good luck!

TRD Brakes. Headlight Revolution LED. TRD rear Torsion Bar. Dirty Deeds 10 inch Stainless. TRD Pro Grill. Bushwhacker Pocket Flares. Baja Designs Combo Driving/Fog lights.
As above. Same truck and same setup. 5160’s in the rear. I ended up adding a 1” lift in the rear for more rake, but could have been happy either way. You can go to 33” tires with that setup, staying with 75 width tires and OEM wheels with no rub lock to lock. You may have to trim the corner of the skid plate and heat/bend the rubber mud flap thingy on the front.

I decided to get myself a set of 5160’s as well for the rear. Christmas present to myself! Thanks for the input guys, and sorry I didn’t use the search function first as someone messaged me advising as such. The plan for now is to keep it stock except for the shocks, it really rides like poop with the stock shocks imho, and bounces down the highway.

The shocks at 1.9 will correct that and stiffen the ride a bit. I have Zero bounce and little to no lean on corners. Personally, I would leave it like that unless you want the rake back or plan to tow.

I just bought the 6112/5160, - going with the 1.3" (second setting) with a .5" shim on the driver side and with a 1" shackle (.625") in the back. Everything is in the mail so pictures in a week or two. Assembling myself, so I need to figure out the best way to do that. Running on stock 18 rims with BFG KO2 275/70r18.

Looking for drive improvement and a balanced look, with slight rake. Might install the shackles first and do some measurements to see what the rake will be. Then decide if I bump up to the 1.9 front height.

Love to see people running these with 1" shackle on 33's!

What’s the reason for the “.5 shim”?

There is a driver side lean - the battery and the gas tank are on that side. I havent seen or felt this lean and I'm not sure if when I put this guy in, I'll get a passenger side lean, but it was a recommended addition to buy (like $18) when I bought the Coachbuilder +1 shackle. I need to do some more measurements but I'm already going to be replacing the front shocks, so while everything is apart I figured it's small money to have the option. I'll let you know how it goes, and do some measurements today. (top of wheel well, to center of wheel)

Nice truck! @Nm6300'asl ..... you must be from Santa Fe. I used to fly out of the airport there ... choppers with the Army Nat'l Guard. 717th Medevac. Way back in the '70s. I remember the field elevation being 6340ft or so.

Ahhh, looking awesome. My shocks arrive tomorrow. Like being a kid again waiting for Christmas. Any driver side lean? I don’t think I can wait for the coachbuilder .5” shim before I put the 6112s on! I can lean.

I’d like to see a profile to see your level...torn between 1.3” and 1.9”

Theoretically, you could get close to 6” with the 6112, and spacers, but I think there are much better options gaining that height with something else. The 5160 is only a 0-2” so you’d need something else in back.

There are much smarter people here, and I’ve never researched that height. So I dont have a good recommendation. Good luck up there!

Your Tundra looks really nice. I can see a 5160 shock from the pic and the awesome TRD dual exhaust. The shackles in the back provide a good rack look. How do you like your installation?

Your Tundra looks nice too. I see a sticker of something on the gas cover. Darn it, you got the TRD dual exhaust too? I gotta convince the wifey. I just got an ARE cap w/bedrugs for my 2018 1794 Edition and now my wallet says get more.

I got Bilstein 6112 on top setting for 2.5 inch lift and Coachbuilder +1 in the rear. Truck is level with 33 inch tires. Love the look.

Very impressed with the ride quality of the 6112-5160 combo, very "controlled" feeling and I am not even running the front sway bar. Wasnt my plan but had to go with the higher setting on the shackles because the daystar cradles thickness was adding "preload" on the airbags even at 5 psi. The TRD duals, TRD cai and TRD pro skidplate really complete the truck!

Just finished the 5160 install and seems to be a smoother ride on the backend. Hard to be “omg wow” like when I installed the rear sway bar, but me brain says it better.

But really doesn’t matter how it drives. Looks fukn awesome, so that’s all I care about when parking at the mall this Christmas season...;)

So...onto the 6112 install this weekend. Anyone modify the pin to the spring compressors so they can lock around the coil? The whole process seems shady as hell, but I’m the sort of person who doesn’t mind extreme bodily harm to have a small amount of satisfaction. I’ve seen a guy on YouTube grind them down. Has to be safer that not using them.

And just so this isn’t a complete thread hijack - I’m setting them to 1.3” with a coachbuilder .5” driverside shim.

Hey can you tell me how you measured yours? I feel like I see a slight lean with the naked eye but am not sure the best way of measuring

Hey how did you measure with the shim? Do you only have a shim on the driver's side?

@justfortun Nice!!! I'm really liking the 1.3 look. That's without any rear lift, right? What size tires are you running in these pictures? How's the ride now?

Thanks man. I got it aligned this morning, so I drove it home tonight sort of like an asshole to see how it handled. It handles as nice as it looks. Really impressed with the handling. It's stiffer, and seems to enjoy curves. Didn't take it offroad, but I also didn't slow down for the three speedbumps in my building's parking lot.

As for the looks, I like it a lot. If I went to a bigger tire I'd consider the higher settings. The back isnt lifted right now, but the coachbuilder 1" shackle arrived in the mail today. I'm out of town for the next couple days but I'm going to throw those on the back end (supposed to lift it .625-/+") sometime next week. They look like an easy install and they don't change the drive as far as my alignment. But I have to be honest, I thought I wanted the rake, but this level look is really appealing. If the Coachbuilders raise the back too high, I'll pull them off and pack em up and save them for when I lose my mind completely to all you people, bump the fronts to 2.5, get a couple more shims and pop on some 35s.

    Tires are 275/70r18 BFG KO2s
