I've read a few threads on this topic already. I'm getting close to buying a 2019. Wanted to ask if someone can take a look at this one being offered from the Dealership and see if you think it has any real value or just a gimmick??

    Thanks ya'll.

Pretty standard extended warranty terms, it's provided by Fidelity so a legitimate company. I'd say minimal value unless you plan to keep it for an extremely long time (15+ years and 250k+ miles).

I'm the guy selling the 2001 right now in this forum so i keep cars a long time. I actually replaced by Transmission (appx $2,800..i think) so i'm just curious if they warranties get honored or if the Dealer finds a way out them when their needed.

Third party warranties sometimes will get into arguments with shops around what they are willing to pay out. As long as you're willing to maintain records of all maintenance over the life of the truck you're good. The only issue in my opinion is how to track DIY things like oil changes.

What’s considered valid maintenance record?Having a receipt for the oil that you used? Or do you have to go to the dealer and keep those records. Personally I think self maintained vehicles or more valuable in my mind than a dealer maintained vehicle. But then you’re going off of the sellers word.
I kept records in the past and offered them to the dealer when I traded in like an idiot and they were not interested.

I've got a very time tested system (for me anyway) of keeping track of all service performed and service records that go along with each maintenance task so i'll be comfortable with that part of it.

I'm seeing that some Dealers have a program like this and some don't. I wasn't sure why some don't? I was told there are fees the Dealer has to pay to Toyota to be part of this program but i'm not familiar enough with the industry to really know.

I'm sure these cost of offering these programs are somehow included in the final price but these Dealers can make it pretty hard to figure out how the pricing works. I think its confusing and i'm sure that's on purpose.

I've basically picked a target price I want to pay and will shoot for that. We'll see..

That's something OP will want to make crystal clear with the warranty administrator (NOT the dealer).

The dealer usually some how gets it to where you’re actually paying for it also. It definitely shouldn’t be your make
Or break on buying a truck. They have all sorts of fine print as well with these warranties, end up not being worth while at all.

So, keep maintenance records. Also, I would think of it as a great bonus, but I would go out of my way to have any issue addressed post OEM warranty by the dealer that you bought the truck from. That way if there's any issue, the old 'you guys sold it to me' argument comes into play.

btw I'm about 20 minutes 30 minutes outside Marietta. I've had some real headaches with a local dealer, but not the one you're looking at now.

@mojojo sorry to hear about the issues with your dealer. i’m up in Alpharetta and the Yota dealer 5 min from me has not been good to deal with. That’s why i’m looking over Marietta way. so far it’s been no fun working with most of the dealerships
