Nothing wrong with that. You have to do whatever you need to pay the bills.

I thought Uber had a policy where it had to be a four door car or SUV.

More room in the rear seat of a CM than most cars or SUV's. Plus room in the bed for luggage!

If you don't mind people in the truck, it'd be a good option to buy one if you couldn't afford to otherwise. Probably no profit, but do Uber til it's paid off, then drive the truck another 15 years.

True and you may get paid more for the bigger vehicle but not 100 percent sure how Uber works in that way.

I'm sure he makes a profit. My father in law drives for Lyft. He drives an Armada and gets 13 mpg. It's considered an XL vehicle and he does pretty darn well for a side gig just during weekday mornings and weekend nights. I sure as hell wouldn't use my Tundra as a Taxi but gotta do what you gotta do.

That's what I was gonna say - its probably UBER X for long rides only.

My buddy has an Escalade that he uses. He does trips from Hartford to Boston NY NJ RI and Phila. He also has specific customers that he drives for who are mainly business persons.

I've driven in Dallas, Indy, Orlando, LA, Cincinnati, Chicago... Only Boston is worse than any of those. I absolutely HATE Massachusetts drivers.

It may have been Uber Premium, which charges more for nicer vehicles. I think a new Tundra may qualify due to the extra leg room, and if it was a higher end one with leather seats

I think Southern FL are the worst. Ive driven all over the country and FLL/MIA scares me everytime. You never what kind of driver is on the road. It's a mix of all those from other countries driving the free way. I've ridden a motorcycle and driven in Latin America and the lane markers are just for guidance. Even Red lights are just to say slow down but never stop.:eek2:

I do Uber in my Tundra from my house to downtown Boise. I put in my work destination and if someone is heading that way I get the ride. I think of it as them paying for my gas to work that day....On the weekends I use my wife's Camry....

One guy I know teases me how much I would make if I did uber when I'm slow (contractor) since I have a 1794 and can go in their luxury line.

    That guy is an idiot.

Let’s say the average Uber x driver makes $20 an hour before expenses. Now back out taxes, fees, (non-fuel) vehicle expenses. I suspect you will be near $10/hr. (At best).

Let’s say in an hour a driver will cover 45 miles (optimistic), and will get a impossibly optimistic MPG of 18. 2.5 gallons of gas at an average of $2.80 a gallon is gonna come out to $7 an hour in gas alone.

If someone believes their time and truck are worth $3/hr they need to seek help.

I don't uber or lift but a older student I had at the school I teach at ( CDL-A ), does it on the weekends and he makes about 400$ a weekend in the Raleigh, NC area. Drives a little hooptie taking the college kids to their drinking parties and back. I don't much like my wife riding in my truck let alone drunk strangers.

Yeah, you'll have to do either late or very early hours to actually make some money with these. Either way, there's no way I am bringing in drunk people and being at their mercy. No matter how armed you might be, they have the drop on you.
