Spots on roof

I discovered these spots on the roof of my Tundra yesterday. They may be rock chips, but they don’t look like it to me. They’re completely smooth, so it doesn’t seem like it was from something hitting it. Maybe something got on the paint and ate it? I’ll need to get them touched up obviously, just wanted to see if anyone else has anything like this, in case it’s a warranty issue.

 

If you didn't live in Texas where the trucks are built I would have said railroad debris. It's not uncommon to see little specks of rust in the paint after vehicles transported on railroad.

 

Don't have spots like that and I haven't seen anyone else with them. In for answers.

 

Some chemical may have gotten on there at some point. I can’t imagine they’ve been there long. I wash the truck constantly and just noticed them.

 

Looks like you were behind a trailers or trash truck and something flew off and was heavy enough to chip the pain light enough to not dent it.

 

Maybe. Seems like the edges would be rough if something hit it though.

 

Could be asteroid dust falling to earth. Or, seagulls dropping oyster shells so they crack open for the goods. Both true stories.

 

It may have gotten some space particles on it when I was driving on the moon.

Possible acid rain from all of this global warming....PS. It was 23 degrees for a low here in NC and it’s still November! Thank God for global warming!

 

Or hot ashes got on it when you were driving thru lava flows in Hawaii........

 

Yeah, we noticed it was on the left side. Where I parked faced the fab shop, a lot of welding and grinding all day. Even though I was probably 50 feet away I'm guessing that a lot of fine particles were getting airborne. Wasn't as pronounced as yours but it really showed up with the iron x.
