Got a 2016 5.7 with about 750 miles. The truck is fantastic but since I've bought it when you start it, it rev's for a second or two. Not extreme, just almost like you gave it a little gas when you start it. Also when you turn it off after driving it, it sounds like a pump is running for a second or two. Both of these things are constant and other than that the truck purrs. Is this normal? Anyone experience the same thing?

Did the same, even after my level lift and new tires. every clink, bump, and rattle put me on edge. But realize, it's a truck, it's gonna ride like a truck and sound like a truck LOL

Yep, gotta 16 Limited 5.7 with 2k on it. Larger displacement engines require more time for the the engine to come up to full compression than smaller engines which is why you never notice it with the little four bangers. It is very noticeable with the V6 in my 4Runner with the 4.0 & much more noticeable with the Tundra 5.7. You will probably notice this coming winter it will take even longer for the engine to come up to full compression, about twice as long.

I estimate that with the 5.7 it requires about 15-20 secs before it quiets down, & you should wait until it does before you engage the transmission & apply your foot to the accelerator. If you habitually apply gas to the engine before it reaches full compression you are creating undue wear on all the engine components which ultimately shows up in the longevity of the engine. So after you turn on the ignition, wait until you hear it rev down and then you will be up to full compression.

I've heard they decreased run time on the air injection pump in ca models but guess most other states they just let it run, buzzing at shut off. 69 chevelle, and 53 chevy 21020160510_114230.jpg
