    OK I have a 08 limited 5.7 4X4
Issues is the famous "clunking" while taking foot off of brake coming from a stop. No I know generally its the slip yolk not properly lubricated. My question is there are no zerk fittings to lube it just the U-Joints. It has a plastic boot over it. Now from what I read is this was common for the 2wd tu dras not 4X4's is this true? Also read that the tranny fluid lubes the slip yolk? That sounds a bit off as I know these take 2 totally different lubrication profiles. Can any one assist on how to properly lubricate my slip yolk??

There are TSBs for "the clunk" for both the 2wd and 4wd (TSB-0147-11) trucks. It's a bad yolk casting and the correction is to replace the entire driveshaft. If you want to grease the slip yolk splines, it has to come apart and be done by hand. Given the age of your truck, it may be out of warranty. Your next move might be to try to score one from a '12 or newer truck, or one from a truck that has had the fix (replacement).

Dustin, I just had the shaft replaced for the same issue. Fortunately for me they replaced it @ no charge, as my warranty had ran out, but brought it to their attention when I was under warranty and everything was documented. Give Toyota a call, hopefully they will take care of you as this is a widespread problem. I don't know about the yoke, the TSB replaces the whole shaft. Good luck

rons23 had his concern documented at the dealer prior to the expiration of his warranty so that there was documentation. I've done the same with mine as the condition in my truck is intermittent and the tech was not able to reproduce the clunk while he had the truck.

Yes as stated above, the saving grace was I went to them with my concern, and they told me it was normal,Not!. So I was under full warranty when I brought it to their attention. They decided to cover it. Hope you get taken care of.
