Anyone on here running some long tubes headers?

Looking for information about adding a little more get up and go. Not it a lot, just enough to make it tow a little better.

    Opinions of you own them?

I was also curious if anyone has added long tubes. Not for the same reason though, I just want my truck to terrify children and animals

I've always heard it's pointless to swap the stock headers because they're built so well. I'd like to know if it really does anything.

On another forum I was perusing while trying to decide if I wanted glasspacks or not (I have them), a guy had changed headers, installed a y-pipe after the cats and put a single glasspack. Sounded awesome and according to him, noticeable HP increase.

I have seen his dyno reports on his test mule. 49 HP and 89 pnd ft TQ increase

Pretty impressive numbers for a reasonable price.

There were some headers I has heard not to get because of the poor quality of the welds and metal. I can't recall the name but I'll try to find out

Doug Thorleys are very good. JBA's suck. I wish Hooker or Hedman made long tube headers for the Tundra.

From the experts on the subject, jba makes more power on our trucks than the other brands. I plan on installing them simply for the low end torque.

I'm not so sure about "experts on the subject", but I've come across some pretty bad reviews on JBA build quality. I bought my first set of Hooker headers in 1970 for my Corvetted 283- V-8 1957 CJ-5. Bought some Hedman's for my 1976 302 Bronco. I bought Doug Thorleys for my 1969 360 V-8 street built Duster. I've probably purchased 8 or 9 sets of headers over the years. No offense, but no one could give me a set of JBA's. As far as most power??? Let's see some actual at the wheel dyno #'s with JBA long tubes on a Tundra to compare with the Doug Thorley long tube data posted here with similar exhaust setups too. Pretty sure the Thorleys will last a long time too. Hooker and Hedman don't make street headers for the Tundra as of yet, maybe never. Both Hooker and Hedman are legendary in performance and quality along with Doug Thorley. JBA has only been around since the late 80's. New kids on the block. There was a set of brand new in box JBA long tubes on Denver Craig's List for $400. A great deal compared to original cost. Was posted for over two months. Not sure if they ever sold.

That was what it was JBA. Guy said his neighbor (muffler shop owner) came over to look at the headers after he installed them and asked why they looked like garbage and told him he should ask for his money back

Said the welds looked like garbage and could bust at any point. Some points still had metal shavings that hadn't been filed off before shipping.

Build quality is obviously very important. The last thing I want to do is to go thru the expense just to have my headers crack at the manifold plate weld after a few months. The Thorley long tubes definitely make a huge difference over our OEM short tube style headers.

I have jba headers and cat back on my Tacoma it's ok it helped some I don't think enough to justify the cost... They have been on there 4 years I think, and no problems.

As for the my goes tundra I will go with Doug. Since the 1st gens aftermarket is about toasted now to a point.

I forgot about obx. I don't know much about obx for any kind of opinion other than obx makes a lot racing products that seem to be very popular.

Never seen a set in person so I can't comment. They might be my pick if Doug doesn't get there build issues under control I refuse to run jba in my tundra..

I don't know anybody who has OBX on their Tundra. I'm going to stay with OEM's but would like Dirty Deeds exhaust someday.
