Deaver K37 vs U748. Pros and cons ?

Exactly, and since I'm still in the air on doing the CTE kit or an actual Camburg cage I can still use em with either setup. Plus I really don't want to put my trust in a shop I don't know to do a spring under setup and I have no desire to setup a "LT" truck

 

So glad I came across this thread before starting one. Anyone running the U784 that doesn't tow or haul often? I am usually only carrying around my surfboard and standup paddles on a weekly basis but usually nothing major however I am thinking of getting the U784's just for peice of mind to know I can handle loads and what not if needed.

Also, I see that they require aftermarket shackles, I had my eyes set on CB 1" shackles which would give 0.625 of actual lift. Would the U748's and these shackles pair up? At most I'd only like 2.5" of actual rear lift that's why...

 

I would get K37's if you don't carry consistent weight in your bed like a camper or RTT. The K37's are very comfy when riding over bumps.
Also I would go with the TC or MCM shackles instead.

 

Oh awesome, I didn't do enough digging into the shackles since all I see on the forums are CB shackles. I see that the TC shackles provide 3/4" of lift but what about the MCM shackles?

 

same. they are very similar. Deaver sells them too (the TC ones). get new bushings as well.
CB are great but very thick. sometimes it causes clearance issues.
I run the K37's with MCM shackles and even loaded to the rim, not much squat.

You rock! I'll pull the trigger on the K37's and TC shackles soon. I have the TRD exhaust, know of any issues with clearance if I got the dealers and K37's?

Also, how much lift would you say you got? My future plans are to get some Icon shocks front and rear to pair up with the leaf packs

 

about one inch. I'm level now. 3/1 with coilovers and new shocks rear. the K37's soak up the bumps good.
I run aftermarket exhaust and no clearance issues.

 

I didn't have any clearance issues with my TRD Duals and the K37's. I ended up removing the tail pipes and adding Dirty Deeds Dumps so they don't get damaged on the trail.

 

Figured all you guys would have SUA by now

So with the K37's and the shackles, I would have guessed about 2-2.5" worth of lift, but you only got one?

 

I have the U748 and think I got about 1.5 maybe 2 inch of lift back there.

 

Got it. What shackles are you using? @TheBeast suggested TC which I never saw and thank him for suggesting haha. However if those shackles plus the K37's will only give me an actual 1" of lift I may need to get longer shackles?

 

I run MCM shackles. You could get coach builder shackles lots of guys on here seem to like those.

I don't think you will ever get +2 in the rear that way. If you use longer shackles, you run the risk to flatten that leaf pack faster.

the MCM and TC shackles have the same specs. I run the MCM like @Tacotundra. Him and @M C M had good advices when I was looking to beef up my rear end

 

Hey @Tacotundra , if I recalled one of your comments right, you do drive with the bed empty most of the time with your U748 correct? No complaints on it? Have you ever hit any fast trails with the U748 on an empty bed? If so, how does it performs?

I'm planning on getting the U748 pack pretty soon, hard debate between that or the K37 XD? My bed is usually fully loaded when I go out and I occasionally tow as well, not toyhauler tow, but a trailer with dirtbikes and quads.

Yes bed is empty most of the time. No complaints from me or any passengers that have ridden in my truck. Yes I have hit trails at a good pace and it performed really well for what those leafs are, my triple bypasses back there also play a factor in this equation. When I do offroad loaded up it's a little smoother and they flex really well when the trail calls for it.
I got the U748 pack for the exact same reason dirt bikes and other toys. I have no experience with the K37 XD pack but it was developed to handle little extra weight so it might ride just like the U748's @M C M will have more insight on that pack think he is offering it but only for his new SUA kit. Or for both styles I'm not sure. Your on the right track though try get a hold of Matt over at MCM he will give you honest answers.

 

That’s what I have heard. I’ve never done shackles, only AAL and Dakar packs for my Tacoma. I’m leaning towards sticking with the TC and K37’s. I just wanted a little bit of rake, not completely leveled while still having the icons on highest possible setting

camburg says 1.5". it was probably about that. u748s did not work for my application. too much constant weight so the packs are flat after a year. making a few changes to the truck then getting it weighed. i'll get custom packs made.

 

I’m just a little confused because the K37’s say they are good for 2” of lift but plus the Camburg shackles (1.5” of lift) wouldn’t that total out to 3.5”

 

it usually doesn't add up like that. I believe when they say 2" for the leaf pack, they implied using aftermarket shackles like the TC which are what Deaver recommend.

 

Ah I see, thanks for telling me that. I was over here going crazy LOL. Okay may get longer shackles then. I see that the TC ones are 3/4" of lift but the camburg ones which are, as I see, recommended for 1.5" of lift. May do that one! Sorry fellas for all the lengthy posts, you guys rock!

 

Damn, I thought that was it but one more question at the moment, have any of you got extended brake lines for the front or back? If so, brand?

 

i didn't need them. we had the truck on a lift at full droop too. just moved the bracket.
you can get the Toytec SS lines or SDHQ ones
